Why should we take in Venezuelans?

The Biden Administration has now manufactured a humanitarian crisis at our southern border with record numbers nothing seen once before in our entire history:

Millions of Venezuelans are trying to flee their crappy economy and have settled in Peru or Colombia. But now they’ve changed their mind and want to move on from those countries to Los estados unidos.

I’m sorry, but why is it the US’ responsibility to take in Venezuela’s entire population because they ruined their own economy electing in socialist idiots into office? Where in world law does it state that any country is required to offer asylum to economic migrants? They already found safe harbor to Colombia and Peru, so you cannot claim they’re escaping persecution from government. Biden has made a disaster of the border and the message is clear - if you want better economic opportunities head to the states, no waiting in line is necessary. Just walk in. Absolutely disgusting.

Because it is racist to turn down brown people. Everyone is welcome. America is not a racist country.

I’m willing to take in all Venezuelans if it means we get to fully colonize the country and all of its resources

Imagine an American state oil company set up to flood the market with Venezuelan reserves thereby breaking opec’s price hold

“The deteriorative condition within Venezuela, which presents an ongoing national security threat to the safety and well-being of the American people, warrants the deferral of the removal of Venezuelan nationals who are present in the United States,”

Venezuelans are lying homeless in the streets in Colombia. Not a lot of opportunity there. It's a tough situation.

We need secure borders and a functional immigration system.

Pregnant Venezuelan women have high rates of death in childbirth. They are doing whatever they can to walk to Colombia to give birth so that they survive childbirth.

Sure, you’re more than welcome to come. Wait in line like everyone else!

And that is the US’ responsibility because…….?

No country on earth is required to give people better economic opportunities. Asylum is for fleeing persecution. Our own citizens sleep in the streets too. There are poor people all over the world. You going to open our borders to every poor person who feels like coming?

Great, we can all end up poor together. Maybe they shouldn’t have elected socialists to run the govt. And now they’ll probably bring the same mindset that ruined their country and ruin ours when they vote here.

Ok, and why is this the US’ problem? No country on earth is required to give people better healthcare. Hell, we need that for our own citizens.

I didn't say it was the US' responsibility. I agree we need secure borders, and deserve to have them, like every other country on earth that I can't just waltz into.

However, I have family members who went through a lengthy and expensive process to legally immigrate and I think it could be streamlined and more efficient. I also think immigrants are a net positive for our society and am supportive of allowing in a reasonable amount of hardworking good people looking for economic opportunity. The key is a reasonable level of immigrants who can enter and integrate logistically and culturally without overwhelming their new communities.

Why are people fleeing a socialist paradise?

We shouldn't. Economic migration is not a reason to grant asylum.

Yet, Biden is granting TPP status to over 700,000 Venezuelans. And, he doesn't think this will be a magnet for more to come?
These people are leaving their socialist "utopia" for which they voted.

Eh, our own poor and pregnant African American women statistically high maternal death rates too.

They'll make better citizens than our meth-addled rural citizens.

Because immigration is the founding principal of our nation. Without it, we wouldn't exist.
