Not voting for Biden because travel has gotten horrendous under him

I just ate a bad sandwich. Thanks, Biden.

I miss when this forum was dominated by intelligent people with real knowledge of politics and policy. Feels like a bunch of low info trolls are bumping all the threads lately. Bad X posts and NYPost links. Now this.

Baggage issues haven’t been my issue but significant delays and cancellations with not effort to help. Canceling a flight from Cincinnati to DC and not have any solutions at all is not ok. A flight the next day to Chicago is not a real solution but that is what we weee offered. 8 hour delay in Seattle. 3 hours in the runway at Dulles. So long that a passenger claimed a medical emergency to get off the plan. It’s bananas now.

I'm guessing you don't fly in Europe much...

Actually I do and stand by what I said. I don’t specifically blame Biden but it definitely seems like crappy travel experiences have become ok. The fines against American Airlines show that it has gotten worse. I suspect that if there were more penalties and more accountability for failures, then it would improve. One thing I see with the Secretary of Transportation is a lack of forceful leadership. When he engages in an issue, he does so late and in a “fact finding” way. He needs to enforce the regulations before bad crap happens. I work for the federal government and have done so for 2 decades. Agency leaders set a tone and his tone is one of mild interest. He should be tackling the degradation of our air travel, rail travel and infrastructure. Getting money via an infrastructure bill doesn’t do much unless there is someone making sure the money is spent efficiently to address the issues. Pete is not a strong leader. I think he isn’t really interested.

And you think that anyone nominated by a GOP president would do what, precisely?

It’s worse now than it was before COVID. A lot worse and we’ve only had 1 post Covid president.

This is just really weird disinformation to be pushing. Did somebody get bored of the other lies?

It is not disinformation. I know you love that word and think it invalidates facts but it doesn’t. Just like it isn’t disinformation that Biden’s Secretary of Transportation routinely avoids commercial airlines. It’s a fact.

In Europe the state generally owns the airport and the airline. The wages, even for baggage handlers, is much higher than in the US, with more vacation time, down time etc.

There nothing in the post that I am responding to that a president of the United States is responsbile for.

If you are for re-regulating the airlines or having government control, I suppose that would be a topic for discussion, but it would certainly fly in the face of "OMG Socialism" and "pesky regulations" that the right is usually deriding.

+1. My turkey was a little dry. We used to be a proper country.

It really is. US has better on time performance than Europe. It’s weird to argue otherwise.

Agree 100%. Americans whining about just such silly mess as this is scary. If we don't wake up and start focusing on the big picture, the RNC and DNC are going to shackle us soon with even worse presidents than Trump and Biden.

There is a storm coming our way and Biden is doing NOTHING to deflect it.

And more on Pete

And yes. We should deregulate the airlines. We regulate a ton of other things and airlines have been bailed out by federal taxpayers and so yes, this car carrying Republican wants them reregulated. Or, we could start to enforce some of the existing regulations that still apply. We don’t have to go all the way back to the way things were done prior to deregulation. But no more ignoring the existing regs regarding delays, no more fudging the reliability stats.

I just put down grass seed this week, and it may get washed away. Why isn’t Biden getting the Department of Agriculture or the US Forest Service involved?

You KNOW they fudge the numbers. They routinely claim the flights take longer than they do, they leave late, “make up time in the air” and arrive on time-ish. But when the carefully craft facade gets slightly off tilt, the whole thing falls apart. Delaying my flight 6 hours, then canceling it and relisting it as a new flight and calling it on time is NOT honest. If you actually flew at all you would know the reality.

Oh, so reliability stats are the new “fraudulent votes” when they don’t say what you want them to say…

My foster dog has too much energy for me and my cats and yet Biden does nothing, nothing!

This is literally just "Thanks, Obama" all over again. Why Republicans strive to manufacture reasons to be riled up whenever there's a Democrat in the White House, I'll never know. It's pathological.

Biden can't even uncap the Presidential Sharpie? That doesn't reflect well on his mental competence!
