Bride wants black tie, women wear white but nothing “bridal”

I would wear that dress- sounds like you feel confident wearing it and it’s lovely.

I'm sure the bride has a reason for it. It's still rude to dictate what color your guests wear.

She said it is black tie.

Black tie is after 6.

This. I think it’s fine, but it only matters what the bride thinks.

Hahah!

Bride isn’t too bad. Only things that are somewhat annoying (besides the dress code):

She has a lot of pricey (over $1000) items on her registries.

The couple is having a weekend long wedding with no kids allowed on the premises at all. So several people are having to pay to stay at the venue and also pay for a sitter/relative to stay with the kids at home or in a hotel near by. Some have opted to just stay in the other hotel the whole weekend and go back and forth to the venue but the people in the wedding party can’t do that.

They are asking that everyone eat all meals together for the whole weekend. Which again, for those with kids staying off premises, is a lot to juggle.

Well, this did not disappoint. I just cannot imagine what makes people think they can impose on others to this extent. I’m really curious about how she was raised and her current career. She sounds like she would likely be a nightmare to work with. Unless her job is actually to be a diva like J Lo. I also wonder if she’s big on SM and is planning to post this all on Insta. I’m not a vindictive person, but I sort of wonder what would happen if it pours rain all day. Or if all the guests get a raging stomach virus. She has invested so much energy into crafting a particular look.

Holy crap, this has got to be the most self centered bride/wedding I’ve ever heard of.

How are they going to enforce "no kids on the premises at all"?

Who gives this kind of request to guests. People are out of control. My cousin had a ren faire wedding and did not require guests to dress in ren faire dress (though it was welcome of course!).

This dress code is dumb.

Disagree. Specifying guest dress color is incredibly demanding and self-important. It doesn't matter wtf this bride thinks.

Wear what you have. You’ll probably piss off the bride no matter what, so why pay more to do it?

Well said. My initial reaction was that the dress looked too bridal, this the PP is right. The bride’s request is just stupid, so I wouldn’t spend money to indulge her.
