Bride wants black tie, women wear white but nothing “bridal”

Gorgeous dress. If it worries you too much, wear colored jewel in your ears--though it would be prettier with diamonds. Maybe wear colored shoes?

But, I'd wear the dress and accessories as you would in any case.

Stupid requirement.

I’d go with a brunch-y looking dress. Or a little bit professional looking (but that could be hard to find??)

What would you wear to an all white event that was not a wedding?

Now take that idea, and make sure there’s no lace or bridal elements.

Neither of these are appropriate for a black tie wedding.

A cocktail dress is not appropriate for a black tie wedding.

Yes, a cocktail dress most certainly is appropriate for a black tie wedding. In fact I would bet most women at this wedding will be wearing them.

I refuse to spend money on a dress I won't wear again because brides think it's okay to tell guests what color to wear. I think OP's dress is fine. If you ask for formal, white, and "not bridal," you're an idiot who deserves what you get, really, but the dress comes as close to satisfying the "requirements" as anything.

Plus OP says she looks great in it.

But, this may be the stupidest dress code ever.

Red is my guess

Virgin white is out!

Hymenal red is in!
Luscious flowing dress!

OP pay your tax.

Please come back after the wedding with what others wore. Here’s my prediction: Some women will disregard the white dress request, the bride will be in black, and the bride is probably unaware what “black tie” really means.

There is no such thing as formal, white, and not bridal. Yours is 2 out of 3 (I don't think it's particularly bridal) so good enough.

Hahah!

Bride isn’t too bad. Only things that are somewhat annoying (besides the dress code):

She has a lot of pricey (over $1000) items on her registries.

The couple is having a weekend long wedding with no kids allowed on the premises at all. So several people are having to pay to stay at the venue and also pay for a sitter/relative to stay with the kids at home or in a hotel near by. Some have opted to just stay in the other hotel the whole weekend and go back and forth to the venue but the people in the wedding party can’t do that.

They are asking that everyone eat all meals together for the whole weekend. Which again, for those with kids staying off premises, is a lot to juggle.
