Bride wants black tie, women wear white but nothing “bridal”

I feel like I’m getting set up regardless of what I pick in this situation. You all have helped me before and I’m hoping you can do it again. As usual I’m starting with dresses I already own. I have this at home and it’s been tailored to fit my body and look pretty dang awesome!

No. It may look awesome on you, but it's a no go for a wedding.

Nope that's too bridal.

I'd wear it. It's not bridal unless the it's a third-time bride on a soap opera. With the instructions you've been given, I'd say a strong no to anything with lace or tulle, extensive beading or embroidery. After that, the only thing that makes this "bridal" is that it's 1) white, and 2) floor length. She's demanding white and floor length with a black tie all women wear white instruction.

If the bride is going to be bothered by this dress being too bridal, I'm sure there will be 15 women ahead of you in the line of fire.

I think it's fine for this request.

White dresses that fit black tie aesthetic may all look a wee bit bridal. I think this is as un-bridal as you can get in white for black tie.

A white black tie gown that’s not too bridal? Good luck with that.
Wear what you have. You’ll probably piss off the bride no matter what, so why pay more to do it?

Wait, I misread. The bride wants women to wear white? In that case, go for it.

I'd wear white, with a secondary color as accessories.

Agree that the dress is fine. Like a pp said, the only thing that makes it bridal is that it’s white and floor length. The instructions seem like their setting you up to fail, unless you wear a short dress or jumpsuit, but are those even appropriate for black tie?

I'd be cautious and send a photo to the bride just to check its ok before wearing it. Or go get a white pantsuit?

Any formal dress, that is both white and suitable for a black tie dress code, is going to look bridal. Can't win so wear what you want.

This is a weird request but I think that dress is perfect for it.

Polyester? Well, if you must.
Given the criteria, the style is perfectly fine.

Oh boy this wedding is really setting everyone up for confusion and getting it wrong!

That said, I think your dress meets the criteria as well as any dress possibly could, and it's pretty.
