Removal of Eaton Principal Steven Eskay

Another parent here agreeing that Eaton parents and teachers are bullying anyone who does not fall in line. Two Eaton parents held a call on Friday where they and certain teachers called out specific parents who were slowing down their petition. It was clear they only wanted to hear from people who agreed.

What’s even crazyer is that neither of the teachers leading the petition have good reputations. One is known for yelling at kids (he yelled so much when my daughter had him she would come home crying).

I still think the timing is the oddest part. They intentionally missed the principal hiring cycle. Does Dance get the gig?

Another Eaton parent here who will not be signing. It’s not that I don’t believe or support the teachers, but I am not willing to sign my name to something that I do not have evidence for. As of right now it is all hearsay. I don’t feel comfortable joining the mob before an investigation is completed.

The two parents that held the call are the ex HSA president and LSAT chair (yes they held jobs as a married couple at the same time) who drove away all parent volunteers

My question is what changed that scared the teachers from March to not being scared in June.

I think it’s weird that the letter wasn’t written until after the Hardy petition was successful.

this seems like the reasonable course of action.

It has been super toxic in eaton for a while. The
dcps would have to do a sweep at eaton.
Here the only ones harmed are the children, the teachers have the union and the children have us, parents who have to advocate for them.
I think that both the Principal and the Assistant of the Principal should be removed once and for all to end with so much toxicity.
Now I ask, the psychologist of the school, that I saw that she signed. I imagine that she is doing something positive for the children or will she continue gossiping and telling the privacy of the families to other parents? Eating ears as always!
Eaton has been very bad for a long time...

The petition expresses support of the teachers and requests a timely investigation. What is it that you don’t want to sign onto?

Sheesh, we’ve had two kids at Eaton for a while (one with an IEP) and have not had any issues. The vibe is positive, the parent community has been great, the teachers my kids have had are great. The above poster talking about the teacher yelling I’m pretty sure is talking about it in the context of the school musical. That doesn’t make it ok but it’s not like the teacher is yelling during class. The musical was intense and I think maybe some of the teachers need to either lower their standards or not participate if they can’t get a good performance out of kids without yelling.

But all this trash talk seems crazy to me. Has not been our experience at all.

. Does Eaton actually have trouble getting parent volunteers? Where is the current HSA President & Board on this? Seems weird that none of the parents on the HSA or LSAT had any clue this was coming.

Another Eaton Parent here. Not signing the petition bc it feels like the parents have all been railroaded with no time to figure out what is going on or have anyone answer any questions. Like can we at least have a meeting to discuss what the hell is going on?

In the best of light, bringing this letter forward with 3 school days left is baffling, in the worst of light, it seems like a nefarious political play. I’m sure the truth is somewhere in the middle.

Personally my opinion is it feels like teachers held this information back so they could railroad parents into having to pick Page Dance as principal. I don’t buy it took them until May/June to realize they principal was a terrible principal. No one believes the teachers didn’t talk about their opinions on the new principal for the entire school year.

I do fully support an investigation of the Principal. Some of those allegations involving mocking children are serious, and he should be terminated if they are verified. I’m fine if he is placed on administrative leave as well in the meantime.

I would also support an investigation into the teachers who led the writing of this letter Ms. Rose and Mr. Parodi on how this all went down. We deserve a transparent answer on what teachers knew and when, and why they didn’t call a meeting earlier. We deserve to know if there was any communication between Page Dance and the teachers about ousting the Principal. Why teachers thought it was okay to hold secret meetings with certain parents about this letter. We also deserve to know what they have been saying about parents and if there is now bias against certain parents and therefore, students.

Teachers waiting until we have 3 school days left to try and oust the principal is absolutely bizarre. No one looks good. This is a clown show. Shame on everyone.

So the letter was orchestrated by 2 of the 3 teachers on the LSAT, including the WTU rep? First, the WTU rep being involved makes 100% of staff signing less impressive. Standing up to your WTU building rep in this context would be more small thing. Second, they never brought any of these concerns to the LSAT during the year? That’s bizarre.

You all are making wild assumptions. Are you Eaton parents? Were you on the call? Sounds like you are either s*** stirring or not paying attention.
