Removal of Eaton Principal Steven Eskay

Nice work, Eaton staff. I’m hoping this will inspire other schools to blow the lid off the shameful leadership plaguing our schools.

I would also like the parents to tell about the negative experiences they have had at Eaton, and not only with the principal, the assistant of thebprincipal is also a person who dcps should open an investigation.
There have been parents who have removed their children from Eaton because of the treatment they have received from the assistant of the principal (p.dance).
And there are complaints about her to dcps, but they go nowhere.

AP Dance is not the target nor should she be. If there were complaints against her in the past that went nowhere in then I imagine they were unfounded. Staff did not begin a letter for her resignation - as a matter of fact, she wasn’t even mentioned in the letter once. If this letter written by staff is true, saying Eskay is racist and sexist… then how do you think he would treat a black female counterpart? I am interested in hearing her story!

We are to believe that the Mayor who allowed her friend to terrorize and harass staff and then dumped the report on Saturday of a 3 day weekend is going to take seriously these allegations?

Just because she's African American doesn't make her not a racist.
I'm not talking about racism, what I'm saying about how negligent ap.dance is.
And when it comes to racism, she has made life miserable for minority families and single mothers.
This is not from now, it has been happening for a long time.
Unfortunately, not all families complain, because they cannot or do not know how to do it. For many families, the language is also a barrier and they choose to leave Eaton, because they do not have school support. What bothers me is that the teachers' complaints are credible. But the students and/or parents aren't?
She is very intelligent and knows perfectly well which families she can upset. She is very classist and also has someone superior who supports her.

Page Dance is the biggest threat to Eaton

She lacks professionalism: She isn't organized - since I have been very open with [old HSA president] about my son's IEP - when a new-to-Eaton family reaches out and wants to speak with another SpEd mom- [old HSA president] often will make an introduction. I met up with another IEP mom in August to talk more about the Eaton community. Our boys hit it off and ran around McComb while we discussed the admin side of IEP's. This mom shared that her family's experience had not been great to date - the parents had an hour long call with Dance and had big concerns. This was on the tailcoats of the parents submitting the student's IEP to Dance to discuss his services only to discover the paperwork had been lost. Her lack of organization means that she fails to keep parents up to date about key events - she would notify parents on a moment's notice about IEP meetings being rescheduled...with nothing in writing ... ever.
My number one concern is that Page Dance is a liability to Eaton. All you need to see are the lawsuits that have occurred during her time as SpEd coordinator (Annable, Russo, Ford).

She uses intimidation against teachers: In December - Dance threatened and reprimanded teachers about Eaton's ILS classroom becoming a BES. She followed the current ILS teacher to her car and told her to "keep her mouth shut," and when teachers expressed concern they were reprimanded. Teachers were so concerned- s/he reached out to LSAT from their personal email to avoid being reprimanded. In addition to the concerns about the intimidation among staff - she steamrolls over parents when expressing concerns about their child(ren)'s education. In an IEP meeting she looked at mom navigating the process for the first time and said "[Student] is a fascinating case" to shut down parent's asking for more testing to confirm an auditory issue.

She doesn't build positive relationships with the community: My child has had 4 peers leave DCPS because of 504/ IEP conversations with Page Dance- which is also an enrollment issue and affects Eaton's budget. These parents are available to confirm this.

Eskay also said:

as long as Eaton had black students, its PARCC scores would be substandard.

And responded to concerns about continued substandard PARCC reading scores with “you can’t make chicken salad out of chicken shit.”

Feel safe as an anonymous Eaton parent, but a lot of us who have lost trust in the teachers, don’t feel comfortable speaking out after parents received threatening texts from parents with an agenda.

Can you elaborate PP? You feel like these comments on the letter are untrue?

Honestly I’m actually skeptical of 100 percent of teachers signing, I feel like intimidation could have been harnessed to make this happen. I’d trust 90% more than 100%.

I do not know if the allegations are true. It just seems very different from his background.

I know that some teachers fell in line to stand beside other teachers. I do not feel comfortable disclosing more. The parents orchestrating this are threatening parents who disagree.

Threatening? How? With what?
Obviously people will have varied opinions and perspectives, what leverage does any parent/parent group have over any other parent?

Also an Eaton parent - also skeptical of the allegations… I wish we could connect PP! I don’t feel comfortable signing a petition to oust someone who I have have no personal interactions with and when there is no actual evidence.

The petition is not to oust the principal but to put him on admin leave while an investigation is being conducted.

Why are all the allegations from after Eskay came back from FMLA leave?
