No colonization would be the best but if one was to be colonized, British colonization is factually much better than Spanish colonization

And not the economic segregation diversity of DC, but various racial groups actually living and working together.

Texas big cities aren’t the problem but they don’t control the state government. The Governor and legislature pander to the reactionaries in the suburbs and small cities and rural areas. Abbott is to the right of George Wallace.

I’m Latina and racism is quite prevalent in Latin America. Not necessarily KKK overt racism. But there’s definitely discrimination based on skin color. And even amongst Latinos, some have a hierarchy. I’ve talked to South Americans who feel offended about being lumped with Central Americans for instance. There’s very much a “well but we are not like them.” Im not sure this is different than what other Europeans experienced—-it seems like the last group in is always scapegoated. And it’s all ridiculous if you are paying attention and sane. Like sorry Cubans and Mexicans, the dudes in the pointy hats or AKs with all the hate rhetoric won’t be able to tell you apart when the poop hits the fan. I’m afraid it’s going to get worse. The bottom line is, this guy identified with white supremacy; he was discharged from the US Military with mental issues, and because of very lax to non-existent Texas gun laws, he was able to get guns and kill people.
