What’s with the rise of Hispanic “white supremacists”?

Anonymous
They don't want to blame things on white people to maintain racial divisions, so if it happens to be an inconvenient Hispanic, they will use the phrase 'white Hispanic.'

Let me be literal here.

This Mexican (Mexican american?) guy shoots up the mall in Allen Texas. He kills what, 8 or 9 people- seems like many were white.

So we don’t know if shooter thinks of himself as white. Victims are white in large part.

Washington post says he’s a white supremacist?

Is that in the khendi sense like you’re a racist if you aren’t an anti-racist?

Otherwise, I just don’t get it.

None of them are WASPs. Also they are not regarded as white by WASPs.

They think of themselves as white but are not generally thought of as white by non-hispanic white people.

Most whites in the USA aren't WASPs, what's you point? We had huge immigration waves over the last century or two. Are Middle Eastern and Southern European people with white skin "whites"? Are Eastern Europeans "whites"? Are Germans "whites"?

He was inspired by white nationaliusm/KKK rheotic, regardless of his own identity.
I mean, Enrique Tarrio is head of the Proud Boys...what is he? Because the Proud Boys are white natonalists.

I would encourage you to read Latin American history. It's full of colonialism, the slave trade, and more recently, the mass emigration of actual many, many actual Nazis to South American countries. So it may actually make more sense for Latin America to have a white supremacy problem than for the US to have it. Indeed, the descendants of high ranking Nazis are largely Hispanic at this point.

Do you have supporting data for the bolded? I'd be interested to see what you mean by "many, many" in terms of percentage of white Latin Americans.

Germans immigrated to Latin America at the same time they immigrated to the U.S. Some Nazis went to Latin America after the war, and some Nazis came to the U.S. after the war. But to wholesale suggest all Latin Americans of German descend are the descendants of Nazis is showing your ignorance and your personal prejudice. That's like saying all German Americans in the U.S. are the descendants of Nazis. Ridiculous and shockingly ignorant.

That's not what I'm saying at all. Re-read. Also, being a descendant of SS doesn't make you guilty of anything, so calm down.

I would assume most educated people in a large, sophisticated metro areas such as NYC or Wash., D.C. know some basic history about European (and other, such as Japanese) migration to Latin America. Good to know you're not one of the folks who need a little enlightening.

1. Some may literally be “white” as their ancestors came from Europe

2. History of Colonialism and slave trade means there is a racial pecking order in Latin America. Light skin = better, richer, more powerful. Indigenous Latin Americans are constantly screwed over. Sound familiar?

3. And then among the Latin American ethnicities, there is a lot of snobbery & jockeying for prestige. Those ethnicities with high degree of European descent have very high views of themselves and see themselves as “better” than other Lat-Am ethnic groups.

A white supremacist would not aim for white people because they would be eliminating those they want to prosper.

All I have for you is a rueful shake of the head.

You will now see many thoughtful articles repeated throughout MSN, WaPo, NY Times, etc. about the ‘rise of Neo-Nazism among Christian Hispanics’.

Because none of it makes sense. You will soon be inundated with ‘proof’. Hint: be skeptical of any proof released days after the fact. Social media is instantaneous, meaning when a suspect is identified, social media sleuths begin uncovering all sorts of details about an individual. Now we are seeing a delay of one, two, three days in releasing the name of the perp killed at the scene. There’s no reason for that, unless you want time to do some clean-up.

It's really interesting to see this full-force yet wildly flailing desperation to deflect and deny that the guy could have been a white supremacist.

What are you trying to protect, in insisting so strenuously, that he wasn't a white supremacist?

The right wing denial brigade has arrived

But it's only possible because actual racists and white supremacists have given them that pot to stir. If we had no racism, no white supremacism, they wouldn't have a pot to stir.
