MoCo schools are swirling down the toilet. |
Not all but most. Retaining principals and teachers are at the forefront of issues. Keeping good teachers and admin who want to be there specifically. Then, there is SpEd issues, ELD ( ESOL) issues, performance from students, crowding and aging of facilities, transparency and control of budget spending, curriculum issues, etc. |
What school district is not swirling down the toilet? Our competitor is not Frederick County Public Schools or Howard County Public Schools, it's Fairfax County Public Schools. They are having the same problems MCPS is having. They are losing families to Loudoun County Public Schools. People are just going to move to a smaller, farther (demographics get more homogeneous the farther out you go, though there is a point of diminishing returns where if you go too far out SES and QOL starts decreasing) jurisdiction. Then that school system is going to run into similar problems eventually, rinse and repeat. |
MoCo competes against Howard, Frederick and Fairfax and loses against all three. |
None of them can compete with MoCo schools. |
I'm not sure if that's a troll response or genuine. Fundamentally, Howard and Frederick are both much smaller than Montgomery and Fairfax, as well as different demographically. The school systems are on different levels in terms of resources, opportunities, and challenges based on size and demographics. In terms of preparing students for college/work, that's mostly dependent on the SES and involvement of parents. Support at home will allow an average student to succeed in most school systems (look into the performance of SES/racial subgroups in the less reputable schools of MCPS and FCPS). The problems that struggling school systems face is that they cannot provide the missing support at home for an increasing population because it's impossible to replicate. |
Agree Moco has the best opportunities especially for advanced students. The chicken little posters feel threatened by change are against racial diversity. |
If people are fleeing, how is it that they are able to sell their homes for a premium. Clearly, people with money want to live in MoCo. I wouldn't live in Fredrick County if my life depended on it. |
Frederick. |
You sell to suckers. That's how. Plenty of transplants aren't yet familiar with MoCo rot/decline. |
Based on your responses, I think MoCo should be happy to have gotten rid of you. |
MoCo can keep on bringing in lower incomes and losing higher incomes to tax while retirees skyrocket? Have fun! |
DP. I am also glad you moved away. |
Idk but I will be very glad to see more conservatives and Republicans leave MoCo. We don’t need you here. |
I'm the immediate PP. I don't have any problem with Republicans living in Montgomery County. I just think that, when people who hate living in Montgomery County move away, that's good for everyone. |
