I think it was a thrill kill. I was told by someone who moved in the elite high power folk BDSM scene with Joe that they likely had a cleaning crew on hand. I was not sure what to make of that but it was a very creepy convo to have in a professional setting. You can hire specialized crews to clean blood, etc usually after a homicide or suicide. As colleague said, no need for a time delay.

Not only was it carefully planned but it was a race against time esp with the way sound travels in those houses. And they did get away with it, so far. Maybe Joe wanted the other 2 to be powerfully bound to him. 3 men, 3 stab wounds, quite the legal conundrum is everyone stays silent.

Absolutely tragic.

This also took place before Ring cameras, etc. I suspect there were parties who left, if it happened today may have been caught on video.

I agree. And what boggles my mind more than anything, is this -- how do you know that these two other people you live with are also sadistic psychopathic killers? I mean, if you or I asked our best friend or spouse or boyfriend if they'd be down for doing something like this, I would hope that would be the end of the relationship and an involuntary stay at a psychiatric hospital.

The idea that people would and could talk about doing something like this with other people, planning it out....it just horrifies me that a) there are people that sick out there and b) they somehow found each other.

It is really that hard to understand, they were in a 3 way BDSM relationship.

But it wasn’t a 3-way relationship. It was two 2-way relationships. Joe and Victor were domestic partners with kids; Joe and Dylan were in a BDSM relationship that didn’t include Victor. I tend to think Joe and Dylan killed Robert and Victor was only involved in covering it up (why, who knows, but if he wasn’t I think he’d have flipped). I think that’s what makes it so hard to charge anybody - we all know “they” did it, but which one(s)?

I read the Wikipedia page on this case. A couple of things popped up that caught my attention.

First, he was working for a government program- Radio Free Asia. Wonder if he might have stepped on toes with that.

Second, the brother of one of the housemates broke into the house after the murder, and took some things from the house. This is what Wikipedia states: "...Three months after Wone's death, Price's brother Michael and an accomplice named Phelps Collins burgled the Swann Street residence; they took more than $7,000 of electronic equipment.[22][23] Two individuals, including Price's brother,[24] were charged with the burglary, but those charges were later dropped.[23] In 2007, the MPDC revealed that they had been preparing to make an arrest in the Wone murder case in 2006, but that the burglary had derailed those plans..." So why would a burglary derail a murder case? Can anyone answer that question?

I remember wondering about that at the time.

A comment on the Who Murdered blog says that Dylan is married to someone else.

Joe and Victor are still together. All are in South FL, Dylan is now in Miami and teaching Pilates.

He works at Pilates studio in ft lauderdale

GFY for thinking anything related to RW’s job had anything to do with those psychos murdering him.

I wonder if Price paid his brother to burgle his house and steal evidence.

Interesting thread/theories - so has it pretty much been debunked that this was some sort of consensual sex play gone way wrong?

I’m surprised no one with knowledge of that coke forward. It’s chilling how protected those 3 are!

I wondered if the burglary was bc he had NOT paid him for his assistance. I always thought he was the source of the paralytic and was the 4th who took evidence away that night.

Any updates re: Michael?

Any updates re: what Joe is doing these days?

There are some very powerful people involved in that hardcore BDSM scene in DC. It's my understanding that more than a few played in that house. Protected, yes. But case was also really bungled, esp not having ample blood to later test. DC Forensic Lab has been uncertified or I'd wonder if they could run new tech for DNA evidence, but DC seems to bungle each step of the investigation.

I wondered if Michael was to be arrested and his prints were not a match from the burglary to some other evidence, so they did not go forward.

I think a jury, rather than a judge would have convicted.

I posted earlier that I had crossed paths professionally with Joe on occasion. That he had such extreme personal hardcore images on his Arent Fox computer is still shocking to me. He came from a trailer park and had a high powered, lucrative job at a time when being gay was not nearly as accepted. Rather than reveling in his good fortune and private kinks, he rode the edge of losing it all every day with only an IT check in the balance. That need to push, and push and push the risk factor is extraordinary. I think it was a planned thrill kill and since Robert came to stay unexpectedly, they slotted him into the scheme that Joe and Dylan had been fanaticizing about. These are incredibly depraved people who are so arrogant that they think rules don't apply to them. I hope one day there will be justice for Robert.

10000000000% to the bolded. Not just for him, but for his widow and parents and siblings, too.

I also agree about the jury. It was insane to me that the prosecutor didn't push for a jury trial and agreed to have solely a judge hear the case. I'm not a lawyer, but the prosecutor in the doc didn't impress me at all. The defense's lawyer was extremely sketchy, and the story about being disbarred over money issues didn't surprise me either.

I'm surprised about the laptop, too. Didn't IT ever do random checks or see that stuff?

Pretty sure Micheal is involved and removed evidence from the home that night. It's the only night he didn't show up for work ever.

It struck me at the time, and now, as a controlled outcome.

Some DC heavy hitters got their freak on in that house. I had a former co-worker try to regale me re: same until I shut that convo down and walked away. Violating boundaries seemed to be one of his kinks but he evidenced being quite familiar with the street, house, etc, so probably at least in part, true. Years after the tragedy I went to a mommy playgroup on that block. Was surreal to think of something like that happening there.

The loss and degree of betrayal of such a longtime friend was sobering to me. The hosted birthday party, etc, to some people these gestures do not mean what I think they do. People like Joe keep up relationships so that they can be useful to him but he was willing to snuff out a life with no warning. Kind of a metaphor for this city with a very dark underbelly.
At some point an IT check seemed inevitable, thus my raising it as an example of Joe's insanity and perhaps degree of protection in many venues.
