How are the ladies at barre class so fit?

I was skinny fat before starting to lift weights for the first time in my mid-50s. My doctor used the term to describe someone with the bloodwork, bone density, and fat percentage of an overweight person all hidden inside a BMI of 20.

I find Pure Barre to be very satisfying for strength training. I was never a professional dancer nor do I aspire to be one now, but I did quite a bit of dance training for competitive skating, and Pure Barre reminds me of off ice conditioning. I get my cardio elsewhere. I bet most women who do Pure Barre 5 to 6 days a week and eat like a dancer would end up up with a dancer-like physique.

Whatever. You were in the wrong barre class then or not doing it correctly.

They are fit because they actually care about how and what they eat, and I guarantee they are doin more than just barre at the gym. Probably pilates reformer or mat, as well as yoga, and maybe additional cardio.

I'm 48 and in great shape with only pilates, barre and solid core. But I'm also super careful about my diet

Barre at Pure Barre is inclusive of all ages body types and abilities. I have injuries and it has helped strengthen and dare I say cure my pelvic floor dysfunction. The classes are welcoming hard and you do
See results if you attend 4+ classes a week!
Don’t hate ladies! It’s a great workout!

I really saw results doing barre classes 2-3 days a week.

These days I am lucky if I get to it once a week, but I also do rowing machine and yoga. I feel pretty fit and toned but I also do intermittent fasting and cut down drinking to maybe once a month.

Purebarre isn't trying to be a dance class so if you want more of a ballet class it isn't for you. I found it to be a tough workout and great toning- but if it's not your thing, move along. It's favored by women who are looking to tone their butt & thighs.

I don’t think you should be doing any one form of exercise 4 times a week. Mixing it up will get you better results.

NP, but where’s a good place for barre classes for a true beginner who needs a slower pace?

Do you just mean thin? When I was younger people would ask me if I was a ballerina, because I was thin and have excellent posture. Ironically I am much heavier now but actually strong and fit.

Pp here. I was commenting that the idea that you shouldn’t doing anyone exercise 4x is wrong
