DP but yes they do. The format is called Define and the goal is to lift heavier (8/10/15/20) pound weights at a slower pace. Although I still see plenty of women using the smaller weights for some reason. |
Ice skating for many many years as a child/teen. |
Barre classes are expensive - $34/class? So you are seeing upper middle class ladies who have no stress in life, eating well and sleeping well. A lot of them probably do personal training and use barre as "active recovery". |
Nothing like a real barre vaganova style whip me into shape... ![]() Best for strength building and injury prevention. I can def feel my joints after F45, but with real barre, I only feel the good burn. |
That requires a lot of sleep to recover. Avg middle aged moms don't have that time. I used to get sick a lot when I go beyond twice a week. Barre/PureBarre/Pilates are more achievable because the demand on physical recovery is moderate. With limited sleep and less than perfect diet you can still keep a good exercise routine. When you are less frustrated you will keep at it and see results. |
At least in Bethesda, Barre ladies are certainly *not* so fit. |
