What are the reasons against building a US-Mexico border wall?

The immigration problem can be solved with more resource-efficient methods.

Because Congress never ever votes for bad ideas. You had a democratic congress and president and nothing has been done about the immigration problem. There has been two years and under their watch the problem has gotten much worse.

Why didn't Trump do something when he had the house and senate?

Hint: because they always want an "immigration problem" to rile up their base.

This us all on Republicans. Democrats have been trying to pass immigration reforms for YEARS.

Trump did a ton of good. The problem exploded after he left offices. Why are you trying the whataboutism when he has not been president for two years. By the way there are still kids and families in cages on Biden’s watch, but the libs seem to ignore that fact.

This. We need people with actual ideas, not a totally scalable wall.

why didn't Trump and the R controlled Congress address immigration issues when they held *all* of the power for two years?

Well he can center his 2024 message on his incredible fix of the immigration problem he accomplished during his "ton of good" term. I am sure he will win because of it....it was so so good

But I'll bet you're a big Christian. MAGA trash.

You are a 🤡. I am 1) Jewish and 2) a lifelong Democrat.

No, I live in DC proper. Close to the Montgomery County border.

DP.. honest question.

A lot of Jews came here as refugees. Their children were provided education here.

I realize that most of the people crossing the border aren't fleeing extermination camps, but some of them are definitely fleeing drug wars and forced labor for drug gangs.

Some of these people do plan on and want to apply for asylum, just as those Jews did back then.

As a Jew, do you think it was fine for the US to provide public education and services to Jewish refugee children but not those fleeing drug gangs across our borders?

I like the idea of building a wall between MX and Central America. I think MX should build the wall and make the US pay for it. And I think most Americans will gladly do so.

Have y'all people who want to build a wall never heard of ladders?

Waste of money
Won’t work
Out country is too large. People will go over, under, around….
We need a digital wall- you can’t work if you aren’t legal.

Crack down on those employing illegals.

I just don't know how the millions of unvetted people coming through the border over the past couple of years can be sustainable or safe. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for immigration (I'm a 2nd and 3rd generation immigrant myself), but wouldn't we want to vet people for safety and make sure we have the necessary infrastructure in place before we let so many people in? Also, isn't it unfair to the millions of people who are waiting to become citizens the legal way? I'm really trying to understand this, so please be kind. I'm worried for our country.

Have you ever seen a topographical map of the border? A wall of any sort stretching the length of the border is absurd.

That's what they said in ancient China.

Do you have any idea how many enslaved people died to build that wall? They are literally buried in it.

First -- ecologically it's not great.

Second -- it won't work, not to mention the crazy costs for building, maintaining, etc. If they can't walk across they are going to either go over or under. Tunnels are nothing new.

We need a workable immigration plan, we need a plan to build the stability in central and south america so the people in those countries WANT to be in those countries.
