What are the reasons against building a US-Mexico border wall?

Nobody needs to walk fentanyl into the US. The drug is so compact they are just running it in through the regular border crossings, hidden inside cars.

I'm all in favor of making people obey the law. But I'm also very much against performative virtue. This wall is performative virtue. It won't work and is very expensive. The stay in mexico legislation did seem to work a bit. Let's work with our Central and South American partners and find things that will actually work instead of just making a lot of noise.

This! The border in parts of AZ and NM have no roads or water sources, which would make putting a wall up very difficult. It’s just miles and miles of empty desert. People who cross those areas usually die.

I just don't know how the millions of unvetted people coming through the border over the past couple of years can be sustainable or safe. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for immigration (I'm a 2nd and 3rd generation immigrant myself), but wouldn't we want to vet people for safety and make sure we have the necessary infrastructure in place before we let so many people in? Also, isn't it unfair to the millions of people who are waiting to become citizens the legal way? I'm really trying to understand this, so please be kind. I'm worried for our country.

Aren’t we still waiting for Mexico to pony up the money for the wall?
A 2,000 mile long 30 foot wall is only a “no-brainer” in a world where electing a reality tv show host is a good idea.

It is horrible for the local wildlife.

Wall = white supremacy

You cannot support BIPOC and support walls and deportations.

Why do Republicans keep tying fentanyl to the border wall? Most of the fentanyl is being smuggled in via the ports, not via southern border crossings.

“Fentanyl” is their new dog whistle for white girl at risk from brown man.

It is expensive and unlikely to be effective, and most illegal aliens in the US crossed the border legally, anyway.

There are more effective ways of enforcing immigration laws for the same cost.

+1 CBP doesn’t want a wall.

Most fentanyl is smuggled into the US by citizens and legal residents through monitored border crossing points. So there’s that.

We already have walls at all the places were most of them cross. We don't need a wall for many remote stretches.

We need a combination of approaches. A wall is part of it but naive and ineffective to think that's the solution.

Open borders- we must replace the old orthodoxy

More seized under 2 years of Biden than 4 years of Trump.

Just sayin.
