Harry + Meghan series really well done

I understand the “control your own narrative” theory but I’m sure it makes them more sympathetic. To the extent people respect the queen, it was because she put her own self aside and was basically subject to the machine for 70 years to be the boring proper steady monarch. She basically gave up her own narrative. If Megan and harry just wanted to live like normal people that would be more sympathetic to me . Wanting to have the machine but be in charge of it seems less sympathetic to me. I do feel bad for them though because it’s a largely impssskvle situation. Harry really can’t have much of a normal life. They probably would have been best neogatiating a small stipend and living quietly someplace within that budget. I agree with PP that I don’t know what the end game here is. I hope they are investing whatever they make well because this seems to me a short life cycle on this business.

I definitely would want to hang out with them much more than will and late. I think the whole thing is very sad. Clearly she and Kate did not click automatically but I wonder if they would have bonded over time, and their kids could have been friends. This all seems like a pretty lonely life and I’m sad that the two brothers don’t have each other anymore. I think Kate made a real mistake not trying harder. And Megan might have been able to find a place for herself if she figured out the game. None of them gave it long enough before taking some pretty irrevocable actions. The loss is probably larger for the BRF, but I think it’s a loss for H and M too.

I’ll add that it seems to me that both Charles and will have very bad emotional intelligence and couldn’t fix this when it started going south. The king and queen were both just too old (not sure what sort of skills they had to start with). And Harry just seems sort of impetuous. The family really needed someone with decent EQ and mediation skills and it seems like they just don’t have that.

You can tell the royals are panicked over the series. At the diplomatic reception the other night, Kate was thrown in front if every ambassador of color for the paps. Today Charles scrummed together an ecumenical service at an Ethiopian Church and Camilla hosted an impromptu holiday party at Clarence House for SN kids. Kate’s Carol service will be more of the same with the lead up to Christmas bein pathetic pandering.

Meanwhile the Duke and Duchess have higher approval ratings than Biden and are moving in much more rarified circles than a two bob monarchy.

The royals do seem to be concerned - but not sure why. The Duchess? Really?

They had a photographer with them to film them for this documentary so it is them but not candid - they know they are in front of a camera lens and therefore what they do and say is under the context of knowingly being filmed for a documentary about themselves.

I don't get how they allege quitting RF for privacy from the public, presumably from being photo'd, filmed, and in the news. But then they do an entire series of themselves to all the public, in photos and film and its all over the news, their supposed candid life. On camera. It's like their career now.

^This.

It's not a loss of privacy when you have total control over how, when, and to what extent you want to expose yourself. Loss of privacy is when other take that from you.

She said she met them barefoot wearing jeans thinking they could all relax and be themselves behind closed doors, but that wasn’t true for Will and Kate. But it very much seems to be how Harry and his close friends are. They have plenty of photos and videos of them with Harry’s friends acting normal. Sometimes you just fit better with the family you choose, not the one you’re born into.

Im sorry but I didnt buy this for a second. If you are meeting your future brother in law, and he is Prince William in particular, you put pants on without holes in them. And you wear shoes. When I met my future in laws I put untorn clothes on and wore shoes and they are "commoners". This is bs, she is just making fun of them.
This is just nonsense. You would choose to be more formal, therefore she must be lying.

I didnt say she was lying, I said I dont buy this storyline at all.

But they've been saying that they don't have control of this production either.

I haven’t watched it yet, but the previews and images all seem so staged and self serving.

I found it very insightful. And so far, really nothing negative about the members of the royal family.

Harry’s biographer said that they are wisely equivocating about their control. If it is a success, they had control. If it is not a success, they had no control and are not responsible.

There is a video from them in 2017 talking about how they met and they tell a different version of how they met than what they tell in this one. Both videos are them telling their own story but they changed the details so who knows if they were telling the truth in 2017 or now.

Yeah, their stories always change. Remember when she said he proposed while she was making a chicken dinner in his apartment at KP? Now they say it happened on the KP grounds.

Harry literally started the story saying “she was greasing the chicken.” This just seems like they will never be ok enough

1st episode review: boring. Nothing I hadn’t read online before. It feels very manufactured. The “H” and “M” is annoying.

Who knows. They try very hard to cultivate an image. The lovey stuff reminds me of all the couples that don’t make it. When you call your own life a “great love story” it’s very weird even if you are madly in love. A”great love story” is how someone describes someone else’s story in history.

Christ, my own love story had more adventure and passion. I want set up on Instagram.

Agreed. But because I feel sorry for what he went through as a child-teen. I don’t think he’s very bright.

She still seems very phony and manipulative to me. She has a storyline and image she wants to maintain.
