Harry doesn't want attention. He wants a nice, quiet, low key life, spending quality time with his children. His father never did that.

The proof is that after this documentary, Meghan and Harry are going to disappear from public view. They just want their perspective out first. I am sure the Queen is proud of them from her seat in Heaven

What about Prince Philip? That man saw through Meghan like a pane of glass.

Prince Philip, although raised in the ivory tower of royalty, has a very kind heart. However he always had a tendency to say things he didn't mean. Some of them hurt Meghan's feelings really badly, and it may have taken her years of therapy to recover from his unconscious racismn

Ah yes, the Ivory Tower of being exiled from Greece, having his father desert his mother for a series of mistresses, having his mother locked away in a mental institution, seeing his favorite sister killed in a plane crash, watching his other two sisters marry Nazis who he would later fight as a British naval officer, being passed from relative to relative because he had no family or means, making good of a brutal new Scottish boarding school, being named in dispatches during the war for saving his ship, walking a step behind an admired world leader for 70 years because he kept his vow of duty to his country made when he joined the Navy.

Quite an Ivory tower existence for a man who put up with more sh#t in one day th an Meghan experienced in her 15 minutes of fame with the royal family.

I do not give two figs about Megan and Harry but do not speak ill of Prince Philip.

DP. This is just so weird. Prince Philip’s many racist faux pas are well-known. Also being raised in the “Ivory Tower” (as PP is incorrectly using it) doesn’t mean you had a happy childhood. It means that you are raised amongst a certain social class. Clearly there are kids in foster care passed from relative to relative with tragic backstories and family history of mental health issues as well and you can differentiate these things as different.

As bad as a grandson who wore a Nazi uniform, called fellow soldiers of Pakistani heritage by racist names, and referred to people of a country he was allegedly protecting when not playing video games by derogatory names. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. The same with the Queen’s alleged love of Commonwealth countries. Racist to the core.

The UK really needs to become as racism free as the rest of the world.

You have never been to the rest of the world f you think it's racist free. Slavery is legal in Saudi Arabia

I understand that she might have felt Kate was formal, standoffish, not as fun 6 years ago when they met, but now in hindsight, of course there were stark differences: M. was living a carefree life, loved her job on her show, was a minor celeb but not at all famous enough to be hounded or lose any freedoms, had her life of friends and travel and yoga. Kate at that time was married to the future King and was living a life of service, had 2 young children, had been married for years by then, had been ripped apart by the press....of course she wasn't going to be in ripped jeans and bare feet and totes chill. I mean they were in 2 very different stages of life.

I just think by now as a mom and a wife and seeing what the royal life is like she would be more understanding. Including that remark seemed super petty.

Not only that, she was very pregnant when they met and immediately post-partum during the wedding preparations. Do you think Megan asked her how she was feeling?

Were you there? Wow you people are so quick to fall for the white women crocodile tears. And I'm a white woman. Open your eyes.

We have the word of Meghan who’s prone to bending the truth. And she knows Kate can’t defend herself so it’s a pretty cheap shot.

And Meghan herself said Kate apologized for whatever happened and sent flowers. She had given birth *3 weeks prior* and somehow she's the antichrist??

Yeah, I don't get how Kate became in villain.

You don’t? She did something that warranted an apology and flowers and then, if we’re putting it benevolently, allowed the press to lie and say that Meghan made Kate cry when that wasn’t the truth. If we’re being less benevolent, it appears that Kate’s sources were actively spreading the lie. That’s pretty low behavior in my book.

Seriously? She was pretty busy recovering from childbirth and dealing with a newborn. You've just decided she's a villain for no particular reason, and with no evidence whatsoever.

The Sussex Survivors are asking to be released from their NDAs. This will be fun.

Since Meghan can dish it out but not take it, should be very interesting.

We’re only getting one side of the story because Kate can’t talk.

That will remain to be seen. She had her podcast and seems to very much want to associate with celebrity.

They needed the $100 million from Netflix since they were broke (particularly with the security they need to pay for) with no employment. They got it. If they were smart, they would fade into obscurity and live a private life so we all forget about them. I think Harry would be happy, but Meghan being an actress with a need for validation from blogs, podcasts, etc. it might be hard for her to do.

I don't think they will fade away. It's hard being out of the spotlight when you're used to fame. I see Meghan trying to be a lifestyle guru type like Gwyneth Paltrow. I don't know what Harry wants but I think he will continue to do public appearances.

I would love to be wrong! I think it would be better for everyone involved.

Or she sent an apology and flowers for something because she is gracious and was trying to be polite and ingratiate herself to Meghan.

I don’t get gracious vibes from Kate. However, I think she is an introvert and a bit socially awkward; just my observation not being mean.

It is deathly dull and I don’t think I’ll be watching any others, unless I hear that the next 3 are better.
My takeaway was: they think they have an amazing love story (great, good for them, enjoy it in private), they hate the press (fair enough), and they want to live a private life (then do it!) Given their very lovely home and life in California, their sense of how bad everything has been for them feels a bit... whiny.
I also wonder: what’s next for them? They will now have told their story (I think they really did most of that on Oprah, but there is also Harry’s book), they will have really pissed off the royal family so there won’t be any comeback, even if they wanted that, and apparently they don’t just want to live quietly in California, so now what?

They're going to keep repeating their story for as long as anyone will pay them for it. Which will probably be a long time.

Their California house is more than they can afford, so they need to hustle. In perpetuity.

This.

They’re capitalizing on their exit with the hope they can win hearts and minds and leverage it into a career of public speaking.

I hope they know how to invest whatever they’re being paid for turning on the BRF/selling gossip because I doubt they will be allowed to return to the BRF. I mean, they’ll obviously want to engage with the BRF to get more dirt/sell more current drama, but I don’t see them being given that opportunity.

I think it’s obvious they are trying to create a narrative that paints them as resilient victims who now candy themselves as noble heroes. It’s not authentic or deserved, but I truly believe they believe it…because they are both a bit broken and self-centered.

They try to curate a narrative aligned with Diana’s story, but it’s just not apples to apples. The reality is Will and Kate’s kids are safe and aren’t hounded by photographers, so why would Harry’s kids be treated differently once they went to school?

They absolutely said they were at risk and just wanted privacy, yet now they are walking back the privacy piece by rewriting history to combat allegations of hypocrisy. It’s ridiculous. They obviously just wanted freedom to commercialize their BRF status into global celebrities who get paid to show up. The BRF machine wouldn’t allow it, so they created a storyline to leave while coming out on top.

I’m not sure why anyone would buy what they’re selling. The Kardashians are more authentic than Harry and Meghan…and far more interesting.

Okay folks. This had a good run but, like all H&M threads, it eventually returned to form.
