This. There are a handful on each team who think they deserve better and won’t stop at any cost to get their DDs moved. Good luck with that.

I don't think they'll hang around until Summer tournaments or tryouts. I have an older CLC DD and the rumor is there will be several Orange 25 and 26 parents who push their DDs to leave for other "better" teams after American Select and varsity teams are announced this year. Sounds like some kids accepted and are hangin' on to use those coach ties. Really sad for girls who didn't make Orange and really wanted to.

Curious as to what would be better after reading these replys...go to M&D or Heros or Skywalkers? You are not making the A team there either. Go to Pride? Go to new Stars program? Just not sure what the alternative is.

Confirmed. At least one cap orange staying to make AS and then hitting the gas to play elsewhere. Hope they get called out. Not fair for girls who would like to play for cap orange.

Just one? I’ve heard at least two are leaving right before summer season (and after a variety of select teams are announced). Really crappy. Hopefully those slots will be filled with deserving girls who appreciate playing for O.

Still don't understand where "elsewhere" is? If they are on cap orange they aren't making maryland teams.

Are there detectives reading their daughters text messages?

CLC is a good program, and some of the Pride years are good as well. Your daughter just has to be in the right tournaments but then you have to go beyond that. Do the homework. What type of school does she want? What does she want to major in? The PP There are some great programs and a ton of better schools. Its all about what type of experience they want - not level of lacrosse play. Once they graduate from high school the secret no parent will share is that the bulk of their career is OVER. Not a bad thing, but a fact. Upperclassmen will dominate her first two years of college play, and assuming uninjured and still interested, she might have the last two years of college or maybe 20-24 match in total. Stop thinking about this solely in terms of lacrosse, and start thinking experience and work-related. Healthier for you and your DD.

+1, I don’t think casting a wide net is the best approach to lacrosse recruiting. Your net should be as wide as the schools you would want to attend for reasons outside of lacrosse. There may be a school or two that approaches your DD for lacrosse she never considered that offers the complete package of academics, size, location + lacrosse, but I think this will be the exception and not the rule if your DD has already identified schools that fit her ideal profile. Could your DD see herself at the school she chooses w/o lacrosse. This is the key question to ask. Settling for a school because of lacrosse generally does not turn out well.

+100. If readers were really on their toes they would look at the the 2019, 2020 and 2021 classes of all these club programs - like CLC, Pride, Metro, M&D, etc., and see just how many of them were still playing regardless of whether they were on CLC Blue, CLC Orange, M&D Black or M&D Red, etc. Once you have that list built, then go into the stats of those girls and see how many matches they've played in. (Hint: You can find this on the roster tab under stats and then look for the individual girls.) You will see very quickly just how few are still on a roster after two years of college ball, and even fewer are seeing meaningful minutes. The PP is spot-on. Pick a school that will fit them academically and one that they would want to get up and go to class without lacrosse. Do the research.

I would love to see club stats for % of commits that play all 4 years at each level. All of these committed stats mean a lot less if the girl transfers or quits after her freshman year.

wow, you have way too much time on your hands to even think about tracking stats on whether or not a young lady finishes her college career. And if you find that some don't, what does that tell you. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Because chances are you have no clue as to WHY they chose not to play anymore. Maybe its because of playing time, but maybe its because of some other reason. Good luck figuring that out.

Throw in burnout from having to play year round since they were 6 just to be able to play in college!

PP, who answered yes.. are you still there or has you DD graduated? I’d say 2025 and 2026 is too early to tell, and Orange is better then the local teams you mentioned.

Ok. Capital Orange is not better than all local teams mentioned (and not mentioned). Lets remember that at the 25 level Cap Orange team lost to YJ Mid-Atlantic which didnt' exist 18 months prior.

Oh Please! The YJMA 25 team got lucky 1 game.
Look at them now. Their A Team is ranked 147 and their B team is ranked 196.
Capital 25 orange is ranked 80.

Don’t even try to compare a low tier club like YJMA to an established proven club like Capital. They are not even close and never will be.

I’m sure they played older girls in the team in order to win. They always pull that

As far as Capital Orange vs. Pride Black, here are my two cents: yes, Pride Black is better, but Capital Orange recruits just as well if not better. Think about it, from my understanding Price 24 has six committees and Capital Orange has eight. A team that is better should be found better at recruiting

Wrong. If one or two stop playing that's one thing, but if you're talking 1/4 + of CLC blue or M&D black, it definitely suggests that this is more than simple burnout. Again, you're not trying to draw definitive conclusions but you are trying to identify patterns, and the pattern is there for those that care to look. Totally get that there are exceptions to every rule, but facts are stubborn.

Straight from the horse’s mouth. Both daughters and parents run their mouths…sometimes to people they don’t realize are more connected then they realize in the lacrosse world.

This happens more than most think. Recent events where this fits.

In this area, during this time period? Not a chance. We would absolutely pick Capital Orange again. In the last month alone, Capital 2024 Orange players committed to Hopkins, Berkeley, and Bucknell. Those are the facts.

A summary of 2024 placements for CLC Blue, Orange, Pride and Other would be helpful for this discussion.

Someone do an audit of NOVA girls playing D1 over the past 5 years. You will be surprised at the very little “impact players” to come out of this region. It is all about having fun and getting a great education.
