Bottom line, I'm disappointed. I wish they all would fly their freak flags so we could easily spot them and avoid.

I have a neighbor who hung a Gadsden flag in their front room so that it is very visible through their front windows when the lights are in. They are known as the neighborhood jackasses and the rest of us avoid them as much as possible.

Don't they use in VA license tag?

MAGAs get the Gadsden plates.

So annoyed. That was a Revolutionary flag, part of our history co-opted by racists. Same with the OK hand signal. https://www.adl.org/resources/hate-symbol/okay-hand-gesture

The revolutionary flag was racist, too.

Another reason this northerner wants OUT of this area

I think this "northerner" has never been to upstate NY, or NH if you think you're never going to see another Gasdsen flag when you move up north. Or maybe you meant Brooklyn . . .

NH Gadsden flags predate MAGA. Lots of overlap today, but the “f off” sentiment has been there for a long time.

Correct. The NH "Live Free or Die" license plates was one of the first free speech cases taught in Con Law 30 years ago.

Same.

This is an easy way to figure out who to avoid.

Love the snake tags. Tells me right away which car I should key if I see it.

Never happening soyboi. We know you don't have the cojones.

Where do you park? I'll take care of it.

Yes, infuriating. The worst part is that the people flying this flag and using the sticker version of it to symbolize their racist, hateful beliefs have no idea of what the flag actually meant. I hate that they’ve ruined it for now and future generations. My kids was looking at historic US flags in an old atlas and now thinks all of our neighbors out in the country are history buffs. It’s hard to explain to a 5 year old.

You should explain to your 5 year old that your actions shouldn't be influenced by a very small minority of hateful people. Most people with those plates likely bought the plates because they look cool. This co-opting thing is ridiculous. We are going to let these a-holes and political correctness dictate what we do? Can't use the OK symbol....insane.

I got the Gadsden flag license plates because I think they look good on my black car, and it's easier to spot in a parking lot. So, some racists might fly that flag? So what? They fly the US flag, too. Doesn't mean they now own it.

By DMV, do you refer to the entire state of Virginia? If not, what constitutes ‘Northern Virginia’, is it the degree of suburbanization or northern transplants? There was a time just 45 years ago when Fairfax County was still culturally very southern, and even today parts of Northern Virginia (ie. Western Loudoun and Prince William, Fauquier, Stafford etc) that feel very southern. Sure many places with northern transplants may not accept these cultural memorabilias, however it is the heritage for many generational virginians even today.

Where are you from that you've never heard of the DMV?

I’ve obviously heard of the DMV, just wanting to know where the border is and where it becomes ‘allowed’ to fly the flag as PP mentioned. Does the V in Virginia spread all the way to the NC border? Richmond? Fredericksburg? Sterling?

Exactly what part of Prince William county feels "very southern?"

Right. And yet there are numerous people arguing just the opposite here.

Western Prince William around the battlefields, 5-10 minutes outside of Gainesville, anywhere close to the Fauquier county border, bristow and nokesville outside of the immediate city just to name a few.
