I think this "northerner" has never been to upstate NY, or NH if you think you're never going to see another Gasdsen flag when you move up north. Or maybe you meant Brooklyn . . . |
NH Gadsden flags predate MAGA. Lots of overlap today, but the “f off” sentiment has been there for a long time. |
Ugh, same. I reflexively used the ok emoji in a text chain recently then nearly had a panic attack imagining I just sent up some kind of racist smoke signal. |
Sweetie the only Southern flag that matters was the big old white one

My family is from a town where neighbors still fly the “rebel flag” fwiw I saw a sticker on a pickup in National Harbor/Oxon Hill a couple months back. The flag is out there still if you’re needing companions. |
What makes me laugh about the Gadsden tags is that they’re always on fairly new cars.
Like, how tread on can you be if you can afford to drive that? |
I’ve known all my life, actually. Pre-social media. |
One of the reasons I wasn't allowed to watch Dukes of Hazzard growing up was my parents' amazement that anyone was driving around with that racist seditious flag. |

Gee, I do the same thing when I see a Biden/ Giggles bumper sticker! |
Is this what you mean, OP? The South Pole flag is fine.

I know of at least 4 houses in old Fairfax that still fly the Confederate flag in their front yard. I also know of two on Telegraph Road in Alexandria that fly it.
I can't even begin to tell you how many homes in Old Town have them displayed inside, though they are usually framed in a den and sometimes the real deal- authentic battle Flags from the Army of Northern VA. Very neat historical artifacts, in my opinion. |
Never happening soyboi. We know you don't have the cojones. |
Yes, infuriating. The worst part is that the people flying this flag and using the sticker version of it to symbolize their racist, hateful beliefs have no idea of what the flag actually meant. I hate that they’ve ruined it for now and future generations. My kids was looking at historic US flags in an old atlas and now thinks all of our neighbors out in the country are history buffs. It’s hard to explain to a 5 year old. |
The first time my kid got close enough to see that snake he wanted to know why the plates had a poop emoji on them. |
