Hilarious. If anything, getting married and having children has *liberalized* me. I was moderate and persuadable before. You could win me over on personal freedom. I could even be persuaded by some of the fear factor they spew. Now I am fully aware that freedom without responsibility has lead to devastating and horrible effects on children and our environment. I have more empathy for children of all races and a growing disgust at how we treat our most vulnerable and how we treat minority and poor children as disposable. The GOP is counting on women to become selfish and clannish when they marry, because that is who they surround themselves with - selfish, clannish people. They are completely ignoring that for many people, parenthood is what opens their eyes to the horror of what they are doing and leaving for their children. But at any rate, good luck to the GOP boys selling that message in a post-Roe America. |
| Why do seniors 65+ vote slightly more blue than those in the 50-64 category? |
that IS interesting.. I'm 56- hubby 60, and we're solidly blue but I'm noticing older friends are leaning more that way. |
Because Republicans want to cut medicare, medicaid, and social security. |
My guess is that they are staring down a long-promised retirement that has never materialized due to insane medical costs, low investment returns, and skyrocketing cost of living, and have amassed enough life experience to see that the GOP has nothing to offer them and would prefer they ration their insulin and eat dog food. Or, being closer to death, they are shocked by the nastiness of the current GOP and how so many were willing to throw their age cohort under the COVID bus. Many factors, but nothing quite sells the need for a strong safety net than being vulnerable and needing one. Or, maybe they are on the high end of the “U” curve of lifetime happiness (https://www.economist.com/christmas-specials/2010/12/16/the-u-bend-of-life) and are ready to hope again and want a better life for their increasingly liberal grandkids. The 50-64 year olds still think they are in charge of their own destiny and are miserable. |

I'm the previous PP. I realized I left out the word "male" from white land owners. Now wouldn't that be something, if all the people who were anti abortion called for women to lose the vote, because of course you can't expect women to be rational about abortion. /s Will that be the next call? |
Gender gap because men die sooner. Women are almost 60% of 65+ population and 2/3 of the 85+ population. |

Yes this is what I alluded to when I spoke about married women versus single women in the white demographic 30 to 44. There's a lot that can be parsed out from that but the general just is white women once they are married to a white man which is statistically what happens vote to enforce the patriarchy because their husbands benefit from it. |

Sure, let’s raise the voting age to 21. While we’re at it, we can also raise the minimum age to join the armed services and the minimum age to buy a gun. Deal? |

Exit poll results, very interesting.
In 2018, white women voted equally for Dems and Republicans In 2022? They shifted to +8 Republicans. https://www.cnn.com/interactive/2022/politics/exit-polls-2022-midterm-2018-shift/ |
While we're at it, let's put an age maximum on voting. You're gonna die soon anyway, so why do you get a vote? |
Republicans: 10-year-olds can be forced to bear children, are allowed to own guns, but no voting until 30. |
