Why do seniors 65+ vote slightly more blue than those in the 50-64 category?
that IS interesting.. I'm 56- hubby 60, and we're solidly blue but I'm noticing older friends are leaning more that way.
My guess is that they are staring down a long-promised retirement that has never materialized due to insane medical costs, low investment returns, and skyrocketing cost of living, and have amassed enough life experience to see that the GOP has nothing to offer them and would prefer they ration their insulin and eat dog food. Or, being closer to death, they are shocked by the nastiness of the current GOP and how so many were willing to throw their age cohort under the COVID bus. Many factors, but nothing quite sells the need for a strong safety net than being vulnerable and needing one. Or, maybe they are on the high end of the āUā curve of lifetime happiness (https://www.economist.com/christmas-specials/2010/12/16/the-u-bend-of-life) and are ready to hope again and want a better life for their increasingly liberal grandkids. The 50-64 year olds still think they are in charge of their own destiny and are miserable.
