I’m actually in the cusp group - xennial or Oregon trail. Never fully identified as an Xer

So, yeah-there is also that

I'm in the cusp group too -- and I've never heard us referred to as the Oregon Trail generation, but I love it. I'm going to make this a thing, as the young folks say.

This generation also had Trump as their main Republican president in their formative years. They don't know of a Republican party that isn't toxic to their core. No wonder they are turning away from Republicans. For practically their entire lives, they have been extremely toxic (starting with W and then really taking a nose dive during the Trump years). What sane, reasonable person would want to belong to that party?

Not making excuses for GenX but we grew up with Reagan/Bush 1. Those were the defining R presidents of oiur time (most of us were too young to understand everything going on with Nixon and Ford). Looking back as adults, we can see all the problems with Reagan but as a kid, we weren't aware of those issues. Reagan and Bush just weren't as toxic as today's GOP. Maybe GenX skews a little bit more Republican because they still think of the GOP as it was in the 80s/90s. They think today's toxic GOP is a blip.

I always wonder why they throw Asians into an all other category and not a separate breakout

Because Asians only makeup like 5% of the population, and even smaller voting block.

-Asian American, Gen Xer, voted mostly blue

Also, that age span is weird. 45 to 64 is a wide age span. It spans both Gen x and Boomers, the youngest of whom are 58.

Genx and boomers are the same old people

My parents are Boomers. I'm not the same generation as them (Xennial).

And Soon enough it will be the millennials and Gen Z when they get old.

Everyone knows that young voters skew further left. Until someone points to data which shows significantly higher % of young people voting, this is business as usual.

Right now the best predictor is level of education and Gen Z skews educated.

This is not a correct statement. Other factors more heavily predict voting patterns, including urban/rural, race, sex, and religion.

Republicans this morning

"Change the voting age."

Republicans are insane. There is not one that should have gotten any votes not one.

If the GOP have their way, we'll be back to white land owners being the only ones allowed to vote.
