https://twitter.com/dellavolpe/status/1590190476334096386 CNN Exist polls show voters under 30 at D+28. The turnout must have been high enough to make something of a difference. Voters 30-44 D+2, my guess is Gen X/X-ennials skewed R and voters in their early 30s similar to Gen Z. Boomers R+13. Now if only the likes of Feinstein, Grassley, McConnell, Pelosi would retire and pass the torch. We'd be better off in younger hands. |
| Agree with you OP |
| Which generation isn't more liberal when they're younger? |

I think you are right OP.
This is a report from one of my local stations: https://www.clickondetroit.com/all-about-ann-arbor/2022/11/09/meet-the-university-of-michigan-student-who-waited-in-line-for-6-hours-to-register-to-vote-cast-ballot/ |
| They care about RvW getting overturned and the environment. |
And this is why Biden had to do student loan forgiveness before the midterms. |
No overturning Roe was the biggest factor. |
I always had a theory that it's not so much younger people switching to be more conservative when they're older, but younger people who are apolitical becoming conservative or center-right when they age into the demographic that votes more. Of course there are those who do change, one way or another, but typically under 30 turnout is very low, and activist progressives remain activist progressive, but end up outnumbered by those who never used to vote but start voting more after age 40 when they prioritize taxes and 401ks and individual finance. Gen Z and younger millennials may buck that trend, because they aren't reaching the same financial stability milestones that boomers did in the 80s. People under 35 generally have more sense of instability and uncertainty than their parents did. |
+1 Midterms would do nothing for the current loan forgiveness. |

I was a registered Republican and in the young Republicans (even a page at a convention) until my mid-20s. |
And LGBTQ rights. My gen z voting kids are more passionate about RvW and LGBTQ rights than all other issues. |
My 80 year old parents were never Republicans but they became more radical (left) as they aged. |
| This is a pointless discussion without some details about turnout. The youth vote is always liberal. But the youth vote also historically doesn’t actually go to the polls in presidential elections, much less midterms. Was turnout higher this time? |
