Obviously you get to use your vote as you see fit. If I had a vitally important issue that I wanted to discuss, I probably would have sent an email and called again, particularly if the call was made during a pandemic. My goal would have been to successfully communicate regarding my issue. I can’t imagine deciding not to pursue it — and seething publicly— after leaving a random VM message, that may or may not have been accurately received.
I hope that whoever gets your vote is indeed as responsive as you would like them to be.

I didn't leave a random VM. I called and left a specific message and requested a call back. Are you saying his office may or may not be receiving messages from constituents, who knows? That's ridiculous.

And I am not seething publicly -- I'm posting on a thread about his chances of reelection. I explained why I won't be voting for him again.

I’m suggesting that not getting a call back ONE time from ONE VM is something that I, personally, would not use to make an important decision, in part, because I would be unable to verify that the message was actually correctly delivered. Those are my standards though, and I’ve grown even more flexible with the vagaries of relying on technology for communication. I would feel differently if I had actually spoken to a person, and then not received a call back.

DP. I don’t know if anyone who has ever been successful contacting Elrich’s office, do you? Reimer at least has him been in constituent services even if he’s a bit of a bloke.

Thank you. This is useful information, for me, at least. I’ve never tried to reach out for constituent services, so I’m learning from the comments of those of you who have.

Constituent services for the County Executive is to call 311.

If you have issues, just call 311 people. They will help you.

311 is useless

For issues directly related to services the county provides, 311 works really well. Sidewalk repair, animal control, bulk trash pickup, etc. If your issue instead is one of policy, then of course 311 cannot help because what do you expect them to do? They cannot do a traffic study to install a stop sign on your block.

Most of the time, and particularly if you work through your neighborhood association, you should be able to get responses from county agencies on policy issues. You may not like the response, but you will get one. And if you don’t like the response the natural next step is to talk to your district councilmember or an at-large councilmember that is responsive to your community. Unfortunately, not all at-large members feel like they represent everyone, which is a major problem and why they should have been abolished.
