Can we just agree that the only way democracy will be saved is if we all vote Democrat in next

Of course, according to dcum and the dem party, none of those things have happened. And IF they have happened for some people, it really doesn’t matter. (That’s gaslighting the American people, btw.)

The Democrats have little to no control over gas prices, food shortages (baby formula) or inflation.

Lol. Last I checked the FDA is part of the FEDERAL government which is- wait for it- under Biden’s control. They own that.

The government didn't cause the baby formula problem. Unfettered capitalism allowing a corporate monopoly, and an unsanitary, contaminated factory are what caused the baby formula problem. The problem isn't too much regulation, it's not enough. And again, the Republicans prove that while they are great at whining about the problems, they do not even remotely have the right answers to solving them.

I guess, but it's a bit too abstract of an explanation for me.

How is that “abstract?” That was the most concrete and direct explanation possible- a monopoly on a product plus poor quality control and oversight caused a crisis. That was a “capitalism” created problem and government intervention before the problem existed could have prevented it. We should not have monopolies on needed products in this country, we should not have only overseas supplies of medical equipment in the event of, I don’t know, a pandemic, and we should not have billionaires deciding how the rest of us live.

So you think the US Government controls the economy? Biden sets the price of gas?

Nice deflection from the baby formula crisis! Don’t hurt your back moving those goal posts.

Look who stood in the way of solving these problems. Tsk, tsk. Because it serves them politically. The GOP doesn't care about us, only power.

I get the Democrats aren't perfect. I agree they are not doing enough being vocal enough. Have a strong enough message but you know what That's the horse I have to put my money on because they're literally is no other option for democracy.

I’m a Jimmy Carter-Jerry Ford pragmatist.

I think one advantage of voting for Democrats is that they have broad but weak support from big business. If the Democrats do truly crazy things, big business will quickly shut them down.

When Republicans go crazy, but do a good job of doing what the business lobbyists generally want, then big coporations might hold their noses and support crazy people, or even evil traitors, even though the executives are horrified.

Another problem is that authoritarian or totalitarian right wingers like Putin can end up with so much power that no one can shut them down.

So, yeah: the AOCs and the Sanders people are extremely arrogant idiots when it comes to policy. Even when they have what might be a good policy, they don’t accept input from anyone who knows how to implement anything. Hillary Clinton is so wonky she might make an insane idea work pretty well, for a few years. AOC and Sanders types could take a great idea and run it straight into the ground. The best strategy for Republicans in Congress who sincerely hate AOC’ and Sanders’ proposals is simply to vote for the proposals as is, and give them everything they want.

But, in the real world, grownups can usually steer Democratic administrations toward sanity.

Maybe they usually could do that with Trump 2016-2020, too, but the Roe v. Wade ruling is a sign that the safety rails are off on the Republicans’ side. A President DeSantis or an Emperor Trump could be do whatever the heck he wanted.

+1000 stop traveling to Florida. Everyone I know I’m Nova took multiple trips there over the past two years, whether it was to Disney or the beaches. Stop giving states like this your money.

I want that for purely selfish reasons. I hear my liberal neighbors trash talk the red states and then vacation there frequently. It drives the prices up in Florida for everywhere. If all of you stop traveling there, it will be less expensive for me when my family goes. Sorry but this woman is also voting R in the next election.

The stupid state is flat anyways and I like hiking. Second literally no waves at least in south beach and I enjoy surfing. Is Florida a red state? It’s true Democrats have not won’t there in awhile but it seems like Cuban Americans make seem to be the group Democrats should try to win over.

Aside from your political opinion I agree with you 100% on the fact that blue state “refugees” and “retirees” are a major factor in driving up property values. In fact there is evidence for this in the literature. My parents back in Long Island (NY) told me that almost close to 1/3 of people they grew up with in their town all moved to Florida. Why Florida? No idea the state never appealed to me anyways.

That's what this title sounds like. Take your absolutism somewhere else.

Lol. Absolutism. From the party that wants to force 10 year old raped babies to continue pregnancies and make them suffer through childbirth.

At one point in time it made sense for NYers to sell their homes in NY and move there. And it’s still is despite the rise in property value in FL. And NYers will keep moving there. The weather in NY is getting worse and worse (windy, rainy, cloudy, cold …repeat).

Economy is cyclical. If you have a GOP plan, I'll be happy to take a look at it. I have not seen any.
GOP did not fix the border issue either.

At least GOP wants to fix the border.

Biden administration says it is “secure.”

Oh, very happy to see what they did during 2016-2020. Other than build useless pieces of wall that enriched their friends.

Biden doesn’t want to close the border. Trump did. DeSantis WILL.

When did Trump close the border?

Trump didn’t close the border. Idiot and brainwashed Fox idiots think he did.

FTR, I’m a lifelong Dem.

You can compare #s of immigrants who crossed under Trump vs Biden. While trump didn’t 100% close it, the #s decreased dramatically under Trump and then jumped once Biden took office and started rolling back Trump policy. That’s a fact. The #s of kids and adults entering each week are available online.

Google MPP/ Remain in Mexico.

I don’t understand the mentality that makes migrants the no. 1 voting issue. Especially when there’s no recognition that if we actually helped stabilize Latin American countries people wouldn’t want to come up here. Cons say you can’t ban guns because people get them anyway. Just like with abortions and migration. Desperate people do desperate things. We have a worker shortage. Increase legal immigration. Figure out what can be done to improve life in Latin America. That will reduce illegal border crossings. Just like giving free contraception and boosting sex ed decreases abortion rates. But cons refuse to do anything except use authoritarian, rigid tactics.

Same here. So much hypocrisy.

My super liberal ‘progressive’ neighbors just sold their condo in California to purchase one in Florida. You know, because CA was just having too many issues and Florida was the better option, lol.

A vote for the gop since roe is literally a vote against women. Your argument held water before last week but now everything changed

My wife is pro-life. We are anti-abortion. So I am voting the way I want and my spouse will vote the same. Sorry, not every woman is pro-choice? Hard to believe that?

If your wife is pro-life it means she believes in legal and safe abortion.

If the Repubs had their way, the FDA would be dismantled. Cons despise regulation even when it means babies are harmed.

Fact.

Why do people care so much about this? I honestly don't see how it affects you at. all.

Except that you enjoy remarkably affordable landscaping, housecleaning and childcare.

“remarkably affordable?” You mean by under paying illegal aliens to be your household servants, do your dirty work and watch your kids on the cheap? And the taxpayer provides them medical care, free schooling and free meals at school, snap/ebt, aid to families with dependent children, and income tax “refunds”? You admit this, btw. You want mexicans to work for you and you pay as little as possible. Nice.

Why can't we have a coherent worker visa program that lets them come here to work legally?
It's because Republicans don't like brown people?

Democrats love their brown slaves, as long as they can pay them as little as possible to do their household work.

Wow. you're really confused.
Democrats are the ones pushing minimum wage and benefits for workers. Republicans are the ones who want to take advantage of workers and pay them as little as possible.

Hypocrisy at its finest. Pushing for a higher minimum wage, while simultaneously increasing the number of undocumented immigrants. Do you think that the employers who hire u documented immigrants care about a higher minimum wage? Some will argue that if there is a higher minimum wage, employers will simply hire MORE undocumented immigrants and pay them less. And not provide health insurance and ignore OSHA, etc.

Advocating for higher minimum wages is pointless, if Democrats choose to advocate for more support for undocumented immigrants at the same time.

Dems would love to increase legal migration. You on board? Sounds like it - yay!

Check your privilege.

I live in a solidly middle-class neighborhood and the influx of undocumented immigrants has changed our neighborhood completely over the past 25 years. It affects my family’s life on a daily basis - schools, illegal rentals in the neighborhood, uninsured drivers, etc.

It may not affect your life (except for your cheap labor source) but for some middle-class Americans, it has had a strong effect on our lives.

Cool story, bro.

Yeah, that’s the response I would expect from my liberal, progressive, Democrat neighbors. Thanks for solidifying why I can no longer support the Democrats. You have all made it abundantly clear that you don’t care about me or my family.

I am a pro-choice female with female daughters, but just like the other PPs, I am not a single issue voter.

Yes, I care about abortion rights, but I also care about many other issues.

Democrats made it clear that they didn’t care about our kids when they kept my kids out of school buildings for over a year.
Democrats made it clear that they didn’t care about my kids when they tried to force Covid shots on our young kids.
Democrats made it clear that they didn’t care about me when they forced me to quit my job when I didn’t want to get an unnecessary booster (DC).
Democrats make it clear that they don’t care about my girls when they push trans athletes into female sports.
Democrats make it clear that they don’t care about my girls when they don’t care about female students being raped in school restrooms (Loudon County).
Democrats make it clear that they don’t care about my family finances, my neighborhood, my kid’s schools, crime, illegal immigration, etc.

I’ll be voting for whoever I can that is NOT a Democrat.
