Happy 4th to you too!

These people also voted for low taxes, low inflation and cheap gas, by any means necessary.

Godwin's law in effect right here.....^^^^^

I have two words for you: Roe v. Wade.

The good Nazi’s, just like you, did not care much about politics either. Politics were too complicated and inconvenient.

Yes, we all know that comparing political opponents to Nazis is the height of sophistication. Thanks for slumming it with the hoi polloi so we can glean some of your wisdom.

Group 1: They don't really understand how government works and they don't know much history. They are just one person. They feel helpless and frustrated.

Group 2: They want the Republicans to win so they want to persuade you not to vote. Some are burn-it-down revolutionaries who think that if the Democratic party crashes and burns, a better party can replace it. Nope. If the Democratic party crashes and burns, we will sink so deeply into a Christian fascist state, that it may take decades to get out.

I guess everyone needs ask themselves if they want to live in a democratic country and that we self-govern.

Democracy (rule by the people) means that the people have to do the work, it means compromise, and it's slow-moving and boring.

Autocracy is SWIFT and exciting and thrilling, quick and satisfying (if the authoritarian does what you want). Autocrats dispense with rules and due process and GET THINGS DONE NOW.

I love Teri Kanefield. She’s so sensible and so correct. Functioning government is boring and slow and more than a little bit tedious. For a group of people who aren’t well educated and have sucked back enough reality TV and other stupid entertainment, what the fascist GOP offers is more exciting.

And the Godwin’s law guy said that when it comes to the modern GOP, invoking comparisons to the Nazis is correct and true. Own it. You want what all those “good Germans” wanted, and for the exact same reasons.

Fixed the title for you, OP. Hey guess what? Not everyone values your definition of "democracy" whereby only Democrats can run their agenda. In fact, considering Republicans garner around half the national vote, such a system you propose is anything BUT democratic! What irony! I'll continue to participate in our *representative democracy* by voting for those who best align with my views: Republicans.

It's not "Representative Democracy" when you gerrymander, when you cheat people out of their votes, when you undermine democracy by promoting false Big Lies about a "stolen election" what wasn't stolen, when you steal Supreme Court seats and pack them with seats for life in a way that is totally out of kilter with the actual population and they then go ahead and start overturning laws made by the actual representative democracy. Sorry but when you vote Republican you don't get to talk about representative democracy because you don't actually support representative democracy. You support tyranny by the minority.

It's not really "tyranny of the minority" if ~half the country voted for it. It sounds like you're just mad that you're losing control of the narrative and people are seeing Dems for what they're worth. Good luck in November, sweetie.

And here you have it. The perverse joy the GOP and their supporters get from repeating lies just so they can “own the libs”.

You don’t care about truth or facts. You don’t care about kids or families or reducing crime, or our planet, or democracy or any decent thing. As long as you can “control the narrative” and keep your guns and hoard the resources, it’s all good, amirite? Screw everyone else. You delight in insulting “Dems” and “libs” and delight in suffering of others. You are so smug and so repellant.

I don’t delight in saying these things. I am truly horrified by you and so tired of what you are doing to our country and the people in it. THIS is why people need to vote out GOP politicians and stop the tyranny of you awful, heartless, selfish people.

And taking rights away from women, fetishizing guns and placing their value above our children, demonizing desperate refugees and immigrants, and lying to undermine our free and fair elections when they don’t go your way is so very wise and sophisticated…

Since you clearly lack sophistication, that was sarcasm btw.

I hate it that Roe v Wade is even debated let alone overturned but I have accepted that America will never be a truly progressive country. And I don’t mean progressive as in using identity politics everywhere

Your feelings don't make any of that true. Dems have passed bills to lower gas prices and Republicans voted no. Why? To keep them high and you mad.

Foreign policy and domestic issues are interrelated. And Republicans' idea of domestic policy is "government so small you can drown it in a bathtub" which would send us back to being a 3rd world country.
Republicans have no genuine solutions for the immigration system. They haven't backed visa reform or anything else that would solve most of the problems, just these glib slogans like "build the wall" - which Mexicans cut through with cheap battery powered angle grinders.
Republicans cause homelessness by failing to support mental health care, failing to support drug treatment and rehab, failing to support lower housing costs, failing to improve wages and benefits
Republicans fail to recognize that most of our inflation is driven by the private sector and dependence on oil and gas, and have no answers for inflation
Republicans are the ones driving their own massive culture war, 98% of their entire platform is based on "owning the libs" and exploding fringe issues like imaginary K12 teaching of CRT that didn't actually even happen, or the handful of trans athletes into a national meltdown. Republicans are the ones who spend hundreds of dollars illegally modifying their oversized but underutilized diesel pickup trucks to spew clouds of black smoke at random strangers riding bikes or driving Priuses while complaining about the cost of fuel.

Take a step back and really look at your party and who you support.

PP doesn’t care. Literally nothing of what they wrote makes any sense. I’m sure their five years (they don’t sound completely gone like some of the lifer propaganda victims do, just completely off base) of propaganda listening makes that list seem clear eyed and smart, but it’s not.

OP is right. The only way democracy is saved is if we all vote Democratic. The GOP has to be completely destroyed.

With a bit of luck, it will destroy itself. The real question is how much damage it will do to our democracy in the process.

The GOP will NOT self-implode! This is wishful and naïve thinking.
We have one thing to do: elect Democrats.
I don’t care who excites you, who disappointed you, their policies, their age… none of that matters. It’s who holds the majority. Get off your butts, register people to vote, then work hard to get them to the polls.

This is it people. SCOTUS will take away our powers next year (not before mid-terms), so quit whining and get people to care enough to vote.

With a bit of luck, it will destroy itself. The real question is how much damage it will do to our democracy in the process.
