Listen, there are a lot of problematic Democrats and I don't always vote for one party, but this next election cycle I don't care if they have a dog up. I'm going to vote Democrat because it is more likely they will get me closer to where I want to be in this country than any Republican ever could. Seeing what Youngkin did prove that to me. The second these Republicans get power. They just want to take it away from everyone else and I'm no longer going to fall for their wolf in sheep's clothing. I get the Democrats aren't perfect. I agree they are not doing enough being vocal enough. Have a strong enough message but you know what That's the horse I have to put my money on because they're literally is no other option for democracy.
I’m a Jimmy Carter-Jerry Ford pragmatist. I think one advantage of voting for Democrats is that they have broad but weak support from big business. If the Democrats do truly crazy things, big business will quickly shut them down. When Republicans go crazy, but do a good job of doing what the business lobbyists generally want, then big coporations might hold their noses and support crazy people, or even evil traitors, even though the executives are horrified. Another problem is that authoritarian or totalitarian right wingers like Putin can end up with so much power that no one can shut them down. So, yeah: the AOCs and the Sanders people are extremely arrogant idiots when it comes to policy. Even when they have what might be a good policy, they don’t accept input from anyone who knows how to implement anything. Hillary Clinton is so wonky she might make an insane idea work pretty well, for a few years. AOC and Sanders types could take a great idea and run it straight into the ground. The best strategy for Republicans in Congress who sincerely hate AOC’ and Sanders’ proposals is simply to vote for the proposals as is, and give them everything they want. But, in the real world, grownups can usually steer Democratic administrations toward sanity. Maybe they usually could do that with Trump 2016-2020, too, but the Roe v. Wade ruling is a sign that the safety rails are off on the Republicans’ side. A President DeSantis or an Emperor Trump could be do whatever the heck he wanted.
