Is Christian nationalism to blame for mass shootings?

What does the Venn diagram of Christian nationalists and 2A activists look like?

Perfect circle for the SCOTUS.

I’m certain you are also including black evangelicals and baptist in this “Christian Nationalism” right?
Because this group disproportionately commits mass murders compared to white people 20% v50%. But THOSE mass shootings, that happen damn near weekly in DC, rarely make the front page.

So thanks for openly admitting that you would rather deflect the truth and refocus the discussion on Black people.

The sick irony is that comes right out of the playbook of racist Christian nationalists!

DP

Do you believe data should be used in finding a solution? The data itself isn't racist, but solutions using the data could be. We need to figure out why we are failing brown bodies as such a level.

Data can certainly be used here.

Setting aside the explosive issue of race, the data-set of known christians could easily be purchased by any number of groups within .gov. Then, simply cross-reference that data with all known mass shooters, to prove it is the christians who are doing this.

But I’m not certain where we would go from there?

Maybe - like The View - just raise awareness? Or do we give the phenomenon a label, like “christian gun-terrorism.” ?

If you are Christian (and a Republican), how do you react to an image like this? It absolutely horrifies me but I am neither Christian nor conservative. I would have thought that most religious people would just be sickened by this weird god, guns and flag. I can sort of get associating your religion with your political party (maybe?). But the rest feels like such a violation.

People can argue all day about statistics of who commits fun violence. The reality is that the white Christian nationalists with power promote gun culture and thus their followers buy into it. It has become part of their identity. Gun culture is desensitizing people to gun violence and normalizing acceptance of mass shootings. That is a problem.

Horrified? Um,

- Trump was democratically and fairly elected. You may hate him (he may even horrify you). But that is democracy.

- the guns are rifles (or carbines); either way, they are “long guns.” Despite the media’s constant barrage of increasingly horrifying rhetoric (and I agree the incident was horrific beyond words), here are the facts:

- there were more Americans killed with clubs, fists and kitchen knives last year than with “long guns” of ANY TYPE - including so-called assault rifles. The chance of being killed with a rifle of any type is incredibly incredibly rare. That is just a fact. The fear that you or your child is about to die in a mass shooting is simply irrational hysteria.

- do a Wikipedia search on “DC v. Heller.” The short wiki page explains that personally owning - at home - a firearm is a right protected by our constitution, and it’s extremely unlike the constitution will be amended anytime soon. So people who write on DCUM “ban all guns” are being unrealistic in the extreme.

The flag is not, as you put it, a “violation.”

Everyone take notice here ^^^^^

THIS is what these nutters really believe despite their feigned concern.

They literally don’t care about these massacres. It’s just the cost of doing business to these sickos.

The right to own a firearm and particularly for hunting or personal protection is fine. What is the practical reason to own an AR-15? It has one use. Period. No one is going deer hunting with an AR-15.

- was Trump "fairly" elected? do we have election integrity when your candidates win?

- we have a representative democracy. Trump lost the popular vote.

- there is something called separation of church and state - maybe you've heard of it?

- are you ok mixing up god/jesus and guns?

Why is Christian Nationalism even a thing right now? Did you ask yourself a question what caused this movement to gain so much popularity? Could it be crazy extremes the other side perpetuated over the recent years especially since 2020? When you rock the boat too much to one side, it will have to rock harder to the other side to keep balance, but this isn't how it works in reality. In reality you are just maximizing the crazy, 2 wrongs won't make it right

The AR15 is a great defensive weapon. It has low recoil, and many have adjustable stocks, which means that shorter lighter people can fire it effectively, and the same firearm can fit multiple family members. First time my partner shot a shotgun with a trainer, they got a black eye from holding the stock loosly and the kickback was quite strong which makes follow up shots much more difficult.

You may be surprised to learn that you worry less about over penetration with .233 than many shotgun loads. In other words, you worry less that the round will go through your exterior walls and into someone elses house.

FACT: Guns are the #1 cause of death among children in the USA. #1. Do you buckle your kids up when they get into a car? Because if you do, then you must suffer from irrational hysteria, since more kids are killed by guns than in cars these days.
