What will the US be like in 10 years?

The wealthy will be fine. Better than ever.

Get rich or die trying.

We are screwed if we don't get a handle on crime. Societal excuses and lack of deterrent are eroding safety in major cities and that's going to be a huge problem.

We’ll be more the UK. Former world power, sliding into irrelevance while the PRC slot takes over.

Isle of Man and London = SD and Delaware tax havens for the wealthy.

Two-tiered education system with utter crap for US public schools and anyone with the opportunity sending children to independent (private) schools. Good public school teachers leaving to be private tutors or teach overseas.

Continuing mass immigration for benefits, changing societal fabric permanently.

Not likely, as the UK has
1. up until recently an open door immigration policy
2. the NHS, free medical care for all
3. the rest of the welfare state - free eye tests, free housing and money to buy food if you need it
4. Up until recently no blocks on Russian or Chinese spending - mainly in real estate

Violent crime per 100,000 people in the U.S. 1992: 758.2
Violent crime per 100,000 people in the U.S. 2020: 398.5

Things aren't worse. People just *feel* like they're worse. And, by the way, as someone who lived through 1992 when crime was nearly twice as bad, even that wasn't some kind of urban hellscape.

It was, where I was living. Crime is so much better now, I think it's moved more to the poor rural areas, and there are more mass shootings.

I think the US will continue to devolve into a third world country, with huge gaps between the rich and poor, uninsured and insured, climate challenged and wealthy enough to move --unless there is a major progressive revolution of some sort. Unfortunately, we won't even be like the UK, as we don't have enough social support.

Google their world plan: “the great reset of capitalism”

They are backed by many super-intelligent people, like Prince Charles.

As will the poor. Never been a better time.

issue is the middle. While there are issues --- they should be fine.

I feel like you don't know what third world country is. We are first world. Can't really move from that. Does not mean there are not issues. I hope we never turn into the UK.

Sorry --- some of what you said is right. But not former world power. I think this is where people are losing their minds. We are the sole military and economic superpower. Someday we will not be as sure as water is wet but that day is a long way away. You saw Russia -- they are a competitor for France not the US. The EU combined is not a world power. That leaves China. It is just not likely they will eclipse us in any meaningful way. They may equal or pull a little ahead in some areas. Have to concede that could happen. It is just not likely that they will. Sorry stuck with the US for a few more decades.

I think things will be better. The pendulum will shift back to the center.
In terms of education, I think we will realize the damage we've caused with low academic and behavioral expectations.

Societal, I think we will shift back to placing emphasis on individual responsibilities.

However, before that happens, things are go I g to get a lot worse.

That depends on whether rational adults who care show up for the next two elections, or whether we're going to hand the car keys over to the fascist Krazy Klown Kult.

Only family restaurants will be around because people don't want to work as servers anymore. Fast food places won't exist. Cost of home repairs will sky rocket because there are so few trades people.

No more public schools period—you’ll be charged a bill for middle school.
