What will the US be like in 10 years?

I am pessimistic about the future, particularly due to climate change. I also worry about the fragile state of our democracy and another pandemic that will make Covid seem tame.

Another pandemic is inevitable. The key is to be prepared for it both nationally and globally.

Global warming is really the only challenge we face now that we've never seen before. And it's a big one. The vast majority of Americans spend much more time worrying about problems that are relatively minor in comparison.

Realistically, we should be ready to speak Canadian.

Time to buy a semi and throw some flags on it.

Given the record numbers of migration across the border, I’d say learn any language other than English.

Because I'm 50, and my entire life, I've heard people complaining about how things aren't as good as they used to be. Kids aren't as smart or hard working as they used to be. Crime is so bad. The music is terrible. Morals are in decay. Etc. Etc.

My prediction is that, in 10 years, the US will be better than it is today, and people will be complaining about how bad it is and worrying about what it will be like in another 10 years.

This!! The world is living better than EVER before. There is a much higher standard of living, better education, and more access to healthcare. Yes, it's not perfect. So in 10 years it will be even better and the sad depressives will be talking about doom. Stop, take a look around and be grateful.

What do you mean "we," pale face?

Global climate change will be well underway unless we do some things to stop it now. Since people won't even stop voluntarily traveling for two years because of a pandemic, I'm afraid we are doomed. Assume extreme weather events will get worse.

It is going to be like Butler's The PArable of the Sower with a dash of 1984, Fahrenheit 451, and The Jungle mixed in: everyone living in gated communities, rampant drug use, homelessness, state surveillance, inhuman working conditions, etc.

In 10 years: best tech, best schools, great wealth, we will have put a man on mars, beautiful country, but sadly still lots of morons.
