What will the US be like in 10 years?

I think there will be tons of petty crime. Everyone will have to be Street smart: leaving one’s purse in a shopping cart will be inconceivable.
There will be much more trash lying around too.
Public schools will become worse and good ones will be few and far between - most middle class people will send their kids to privates

Ah, this is a subject near and dear to my heart. My grandfather, a WWII VET (D Day +6). Wounded at the end of the Bulge, said God watches out for “…America”. Without America,the world enters a new dark age.

That said, he did not like the Reagan military buildup. Explaining that the USSR will fail eventually anyhow. That Kleptocracy is not designed for longevity. Sadly, the US neglected its industrial base, infrastructure and borders. Now middle America is paying the price ( the upper middle class, like me are benefiting via nicer houses, etc.).

But we must not ignore middle America’s plight. Look at the substance abuse! If up to me, I’d close our borders, lessen our international responsibilities ( Do NOT become isolationist)
and heal our wounds as a #1 priority.

Will this happen? Not likely. Prognosis is that the US will either lose most of its middle class - the bell curve stretches on both ends. Or the US is the next Brazil.

Unfortunately, Geo W Bush, Obama, nor Biden realize this. Does Trump? Trump struck the nerve at least.

Conservatism should not be the absence of change, rather think it thru first. America does not think it through. I am an American. My ancestors were in Jamestown fairly early. The last group was hear over 200 years ago. So I have a vested interest. Plus I have several kids.

“The rise and fall of great powers” Paul Kennedy, describes what we are going through. Sadly, we are in a long period that will end in “I told you so.” But American’s, or many, are more interested in there entertainment. Think - collapse of the Roman Empire.

Wtf??? Where do you live?? You shouldn’t be able to leave a purse I’m a shopping cart.

I know 3 women that have their iPhone or Wallet stolen out of their purse that was in their cart at Whole Foods.

And, trash—/have you been to NYC the amount of trash there had increased so steadily it’s practically up to your knees in midtown. Once nicer TriBeCa, is now littered with it.

Crime? Homeless? All increased drastically locally and a lot is the police force we have lost. All our cops left to work security for Amazon for more pay abs safety. We have a shortage of them.

I am definitely assuming I will need to pay for my grandkids to go private, even though my own children are in public.
