Can you recommend any specific airbnbs?

Didn’t know AZ was such a popular spring break destination. We did 4 nights in Sedona (including a day at Grand Canyon), and 3 nights in Phoenix. Perfect weather, it was amazing. 2 adults, 2 tweens.

Sedona: stayed at Hilton Resort Bell Rock - no complaints, a little out of town but there are restaurants you can walk to. Beautiful views from our room. Also walkable to Bell Rock to hike. Did a 1.5 hour Pink Jeep tour. Everyone enjoyed the very bumpy ride. The food in Sedona was ok, but we also didn’t plan ahead to snag reservations at really good places.

Grand Canyon: Did a day long Pink Jeep tour. It was right for us; we wanted to see the GC but weren’t looking to hike etc.

Phoenix: stayed at the JW Marriott Desert Ridge. Really liked this resort. Newly renovated (still in process but that’s fine), lazy river, multiple pools. Recommend the Musical Instrument Museum if you want some time out of the sun. Good Mexican food in Phoenix.

No problem with flights but National parking looked iffy so we Lyfted there and back.

Sea Island and then to the Masters. Had our own plane. Total bliss.

I think it's becoming a popular warm weather alternative to Florida.

Spring Break is the perfect time to go to AZ, because it's way too hot in the summer to visit.

I would love to hear costs if anyone wants to share. Seems like SB is always just so pricey to travel anywhere.

A week at Tanque Verde for us was not cheap - $12k or so for the room/activities all inclusive, but have to add gratuities to each meal and flights to AZ were expensive ($800/pp).

Anonymous wrote:Drove to Hilton Head - awesome weather, great service everywhere, virtually no masking as 95% of everything was outdoors anyway. Biked or walked everywhere once we arrived. Even arrived/departed on odd days so didn't have typical 95 traffic. Would totally go again for spring break.

Where did you stay? Looking to go back in June and the place we used to stay (The Hilton) is now condos, so looking at VRBO's. Would love suggestions.

We drove to Asheville too. Spent one day at the Biltmore Estate and then hiked and explored a ton. Also loved not having to fly.

We went to Tennessee- Smoky Mountains. Gatlinburg, Cades Cove, aquarium, zip lining, clingman's dome, Anakeesta, forbidden caverns, the Island...our second time and still no where near enough time to see and do everything. Love it there!

Anonymous wrote:Charleston, SC Gorgeous weather, sunny every day with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s. Lots of history, walking, live oak trees and even alligators in ponds at a park outside the city. Used Uber instead of renting a car, which worked out OK.

Almost zero masks to be seen anywhere. The county has moderate transmission, so it was a little unnerving. But when in Rome…. It was fun pretending Covid didn’t exist for several days. Had a sore throat last week when I got home but tested negative twice for Covid.

The flight on the way had a lot of turbulence, but was on time. The way back had delayed boarding for 1.5 hours and then we sat on the plane another hour. Virtually no explanation, but it wasn’t all that bad.

All in all a nice break!

+1 Charleston. The weather is gorgeous this week and not overly crowded. The flight was quick and non-eventful.

St. Louis Science Center
St. Louis Zoo and did a behind the scenes tour of their unique insect building
Arch and one kid did the ranger program in the museum at the bottom
City Museum
Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate factory tour
Tried toasted ravioli, St. Louis style pizza and gooey butter cake

Air BnBs were very affordable in good locations.

6 year old cried at the end that we had to leave and said that he wanted to move to St. Louis. Overall a success.
For those of you who'd think they'd never be seen in St. Louis, check out the City Museum. I'd say it's a can't miss to do at least once with 5-10 year old kids. I think it's sufficiently awesome by itself to warrant a weekend trip to St. Louis.

We went once when my oldest was 4, and then again last summer, when my kids were 3 and 8. My 3 year old is still asking when we can go back. I don't know of anything quite like it on the planet and I'm still not quite sure how they manage to afford insurance. Oh and it's a total blast for adults, too. Wear closed toe shoes and bring knee pads!
