18:24 again. Meant to add it was a disaster getting there- our flight was delayed multiple times. We were supposed to get in at 8pm and then we encountered a HUGE rental car line and the agency ran out of cars! Fortunately they borrowed Hertz’s inventory but we didn’t get to our hotel until 2:30am. My husband had the foresight to get an airport hotel rather than driving straight to Flagstaff.
Oh- we also had a front row/car seat to a fight between rental agency employees as we were trying to leave the garage. A male employee had to literally hold the women apart. Threats of violence and curse words flew through the air and my husband had to slam on the brakes as one of them returned for another round. My kids were wide-eyed at all of this. It was certainly memorable. |
| We went to Florida - Tampa/st Petersburg area and Orlando. We did a mix of relaxing and theme parks and had a great time. We met up with a bunch of friends so that was the most fun. |
Can you detail your itinerary? Considering similar for 2023. |

Flew into vegas and did Grand Canyon, Page, Kenab Utah ( a sleepy town we absolutely loved- so much to do there and not crowded), Bryce, zion and back to Vegas.
Fantastic trip until Frontier cancelled our flight on the way home and offered ZERO help getting us rebooked. That was a disaster but otherwise trip was perfect. We did sandboarding outside Kanab which was a highlight for sure, as well as ATV ride to canyoneering in a slot canyon, also in Kanab. |
| Thanks for the tip on Kanab. Looks like an amazing spot to set up to see that area. |
| Medellin. Awesome trip, so much to see, learn and do. From museums to aerial gondolas to coffee tours and Guatape, Amazing. |
| Williamsburg. I'm pleasantly surprised by how fun it was. Spent a day in Jamestown and another in Busch gardens. There were 4 kids between 5 and 11 and there was something for everyone. Just a drive away and was good not to deal with the craziness of flying now. Had enough flexibility to make last minute changes. We stayed in wyndham Kingsgate and could have easily spent another day just in the resort here. |
| Ocean City. We didn’t want to fly anywhere because we were worried about delays or getting stuck with covid and we needed to be back for work right after. It was great. There weren’t many people, the indoor pool was empty which is mostly what the kids wanted. No wait at restaurants and it was one of only times there was barely anyone on the beach. The kids went into their knees and don’t mind the cold water nearly as much as adults. It was very peaceful. |
We were only in Sedona really briefly so did our own hike at Bell's Rock. If we had longer, I would have booked a Pink Jeep tour as so many excellent reviews. At the Grand Canyon, again, we didn't have lots of time. We used the shuttle to see some of the viewpoints and did the hike to Ooh Ahh Point on the South Kaibab Trail. It was great - not long but wonderful views as you walk down into the canyon. I think it would be great to hire bikes to cycle along the South Rim but they were all booked out when we got there. |

Went to Myrtle Beach, no issues. Coming home we were a little worried since it was a big travel day, but there were literally a dozen people in line at TSA and we practically ran through.
Avis/Budget had a HORRIBLE line though, 7 windows and 2 staff working |

Me, DH, kids 12 and 9.
Sunday: flew to Vegas, saw a Cirque show, went to the Mandalay Bay aquarium. Stayed at Mandalay Bay hotel. Dinner at a buffet, which the kids loved. We took Southwest out of BWI- super early 6:15am flight, we were on the strip by 10am. The lines at BWI were longer than I'd ever seen, but we just gave ourselves plenty of time and it was fine. Kids loved Vegas. Never thought I'd bring kids to Vegas-or even myself, just not at the top of my list of places to go- but I must say, we actually really enjoyed ourselves. Monday: drove up to Springdale, Utah. On the way, stopped at Valley of Fire State Park for some hiking. INCREDIBLE. We loved this place!! Right on the way. The scenery was gorgeous, and we saw bighorn sheep! A whole family of them crossing the road. Tuesday: hiked in Zion NP. We did the Narrows. Simply incredible, hard to explain the beauty. Wednesday: did a morning hike in Zion (Canyon Overlook- very pretty), then spent the afternoon exploring Grafton (ghost town). it was...interesting. The kids enjoyed it. Thursday: Day trip to Bryce Canyon. Again, fantastic. Friday: hiked Angel's Landing early in the morning (scary, but worth it), and then hung out at the pool in the afternoon. Saturday: drove back to Vegas, flew home. I know there was way more in the area we could have seen and done (Grand Canyon, Escalante, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, etc.) but our style is more to stay in one or two places. Still a fantastic trip. Can't say enough about it. |
| Haven’t been yet: our Easter break begins this Thursday. We will be driving to see my parents in Naples, FL. |
I should clarify- only my 12 year old and I hiked Angel's Landing. DH and the 9 year old stayed back at the hotel and hung at the pool. We didn't feel like she had the stamina (or experience) to do it...and we were definitely right. |
| Williamsburg was nice. Stayed at the Embassy Suites and GWL. Went to CW, Jamestown, Yorktown, and Busch Gardens. Children are 7-13 and everyone enjoyed it. |

Went to Sedona too. WAs packed but loved it so much going back in July. Great hiking. Should be less people in the dead of summer.
Heading to Europe this summer and dreading the paperwork leaving and coming back. |
