| Title says it all. did anyone have any inconveniences because of covid or service issues because of the service industry great resignation? Any other things? |

I went to Florida to Destin and Miramar beach. I thought the line at the airport in Destin was insane. We arrived 1 hour 45 min early and nearly missed our flight! Not sure if that is due to lack of staffing due to the great resignation or because it's a cruddy airline and they intentionally understaff....or both!
No other issues beyond a few glares when we masked in crowded, indoor spaces....like dang! I'm not hurting anyone by masking myself or my kids. I have an unvaccinated preschooler sooo we all mask but only inside. I was too busy wrangling my kids to pay much attention but it was hard to avoid the stares and glares at times. |
| We went to Chicago to visit family and zero issues on the flights. We also went to lots of restaurants, museums, etc. and it was all normal. Busy because it overlapped with Chicago's spring break. Hotels were also fine, though they were only offering daily housekeeping upon request. |

I love this thread every year. It gives me a lot of ideas for the next year.
My kids didn’t have spring break this weekend but we did a long weekend to Turnberry Marriott in North Miami. We stayed 4 nights and it was a great little break. |
| We went to Universal Florida. It was packed, but other than some long lines everything went well. The staff at Universal and their properties were all top notch and polite! Some food service was a bit slow due to staffing issues. |
| We went to Williamsburg for a long weekend. We had a great time and it made up for the fact that my kid missed the field trip there last year due to covid. |

We went to Puerto Rico. It was amazing. Visited Rio Mar/El Yunque, Culebra (the highlight), Condado, and Cabo Rojo/Rincon. We had 36 hours without power in Cabo Rojo. Not ideal for lodging, but didn't impact the activities that we did. Highly recommend the trip for active, adventurous families. It is an amazing place.
No problems flying at all. Took Southwest from BWI - non-stop to San Juan. But I felt for anyone flying Jet Blue or Spirit. That looked horrible - cancellations and delays. |
|
JetBlue was awful. First flight cancelled. It was a direct flight. Only flight available was the next day and not direct like my first flight. I lost the first 2 days of vacation.
Coming back flight was delayed by 4.5 hours. I will NEVER fly JetBlue again. |

Disney. Beautiful weather, super fun trip.
Really wanted to do Asia or Europe but we are choosing to hold off on international travel until the covid testing requirements end. Too nervous about getting trapped overseas. |
| Disney Cruise. Amazing as always. Booked another one for May as soon as we returned. |

Skied in Colorado at Breck and Keystone.
It was incredible. Colder than I expected and very windy a few days, but snow conditions were great. We even had some fresh snow while we were there. No issues with flights, but maybe we got lucky because I read that a lot of flights were cancelled the weekend we left. We flew Southwest. Oh and we rented an SUV through Turo for the first time. It worked out great, was significantly less expensive than rental agencies and we knew exactly what we were getting. |
| In Puerto Rico now. It’s gorgeous. Big excitement at the resort pool this morning. Two iguanas were swimming and one hot out but one got stuck on the water slide. An employee was called to assist and his best idea was to fan it with a piece of palm bark. Many spectators in the pool offering suggestions for more useful techniques. Im getting my first drink at 10:30 when the tiki bar opens. |
| Returned to IAD yesterday at 4:30pm and the entire airport was as crowded as I ever seen it. Fortunately our timing was good and good flights. |
|
Flew out of National yesterday afternoon and it was very crowded. TSA lines moved quickly.
There were spaces available in the garages btw. |
Which resort? We want to go back there next year, but I'm struggling to find something that's not just a hotel room. thanks. |
