And in DC is only updated weekly |
This. And that data is lagged by a week. So the numbers you see for DC are now two weeks old. Cases are rising again. That’s a fact. Do with it what you will. |
This. It took me decades of illness to be diagnosed with celiac and still feel sick half the time. And now pregnant after many fertility treatments and a loss, not worth risking it. |
This +1000. I have so many other autoimmune problems that cause pain and constant lifestyle modifications that I don't want to have another one. |
| My family of five ALL tested positive Wednesday and are all symptomatic to varying degrees. Two vaccinated and boosted adults, one vaccinated elementary kid, two in daycare. My husband is the only one who went to the doctor, so his case will be the only one reported. There doesn’t seem to be a system in place at this point to report positives from home tests. I put very little trust in the official case numbers. |
I’m sorry your kids are sick. The vaccines didn’t work well in your experience and that sucks, but that’s not data. That’s an anecdote. |
+1. My unvaccinated kids had zero symptoms. We all have anecdotes. |
What area do you live in? |
What school district is still doing virtual instruction? |
\\ Do you have a sense of all five of you were exposed? I wonder if it is dose specific -- like were you exposed to someone in a confined space like a car or something, where you all had a lot of exposure? Just wondering why some people have no symptoms and only 1 family member gets it but others have everyone in the family quite ill. |
Mcps has virtual academy as an option this year. Guessing that's what they mean. |
Virtual Virginia has been around for ages. Plus there are virtual charters in Dc. |
I think the person who asked the question doesn’t want actual facts; just wants to be difficult. |
| Everyone is testing with home tests now. The official counts aren’t accurate anymore. |
That’s fine, but it’s the risk you take. My DC is a Senior in HS, and we’ve missed many trips we’d planned to take during these last two years, but we can’t risk DC getting stuck in a foreign country with a + Covid test. So we’re taking a road trip. It’s not ideal. But it’ll be fine. You’ve made a different risk calculation, and that’s ok, too. (FWIW, I have an acquaintance who flew all day, only to get quarantined in a hotel in the layover city, get back on a plane and come home. That was enough to convince me to stay in the US.) |
