I would report this. Even better if it can be recorded on video. Regardless of personal opinions, they are openly violating the rules by discriminating like this. |
If one rule can be ignored so can others. Goodbye classroom management. |

One teen reported that their Chem teacher rearranged the room so that the unmasked kids are sitting in their own zone. He said no other teachers did this. His Chem teacher explained she has a compromised kid at home.
All 3 kids reported less than 15 kids total without a mask. They all agreed that the maskless kids were the ones who tried to previously attend without a mask after Youngkin took office. |
| Upper ES. Kid said only 2 kids in grade were not wearing masks. Teachers were all wearing masks. I asked my kid to wear it for a month and we would decide after that. |
| MS DD reported about 10% unmasked and only saw one teacher without a mask. K kid apparently only made it to match time before he decided to take his off despite being told by us to wear it. He reports that he was 1 of 3 unmasked kids in his class. |
Preschool is tricky because preschoolers still cannot be vaccinated. It is a different decision than older kids. And preschoolers who have at-risk family members need to worry about that as well. |
| I teach high school. I had 4 kids all day without masks (84 students). I had mine off, but put it back on out of respect for them—I spend a lot of time helping kids one on one only inches from them, so if they felt safer with masks on I want to respect them and make them comfortable. I happily took it off during planning or when sitting at my desk far away from kids. |
| My kids are at Chantilly HS. One said that she was the only one unmasked in most of her classes. The other wore a mask and said that there were 1 or 2 unmasked in each of her classes. |
ABSOLUTELY. And call your attorney. Do it for the children! |

My older son is at TJ. I drop him at a bus depot in the morning, where there are several dozen other kids. He was the only one unmasked. When he got home tonight, he said that he saw maybe 5 people total at school without masks, including kids and adults.
My younger son is in 6th grade - his class had 3 kids out of 18 unmasked (including him), and his teacher also did not wear a mask. He saw a fair amount of people at school without masks, but still said the vast majority of people were masked, kids and adults. Both of my kids are vaccinated, and understand that they have a near zero risk of a bad outcome from COVID. I am very proud of them for being true to themselves, and not blindly following the crowd, since they didn't want to continue masking. They both said that they didn't receive any negative pushback from their peers or teachers (though my teenager's good friends did tease him, but he said not in a mean way, it was good natured - the same way that they're always busting each other's chops). I have to admit that I am surprised that so maybe people were still masked at TJ - the science school - I would have thought that they would have a better understanding of the scientific data regarding COVID - but, to each his own, and certainly, everyone should do what makes them personally feel most comfortable. |
Cancel culture is keeping masks on. Can't afford to be accused of being some anti-science MAGA Trumper in FCPS. |
No, you don't sound judgy at all. To each his own, I guess. |
In another thread someone was claiming it was about avoiding the 10 day isolation for kids with heavy class loads. |
Thank you for being empathetic! |
My “defund the police” supporting neighbor’s kid was unmasked at school today. It’s just not the political statement DCUM wants to say it is. |
