Level IV--when do decisions come out?

If you applied, do you get a notice of rejection? Or just acceptance? Also, is it via email?

You will receive an email either with acceptance or rejection.

What questions? Also, who would we go to if we have questions anyway?

They want to avoid the freak outs from the parents of kids not accepted. They call asking why why why? And they are mad. Give them a week, they calm down.

How is that professional and respectful treatment of FCPS parents? FCPS is in charge of the timeline, and they could have selected any dates that work for them. Toying with parents after the fact (to avoid answering their questions?) is disrespectful and maybe it is time that we (parents) demand change.

I have to agree. I asked for the packet in order to be able to work on the appeal if needed. I was told that I had to wait until decisions come out. And then they will come out during spring break, so I'll wait an extra week for the packet. I am a super busy parent and so having it during spring break when I am off would be extremely helpful.

Probably because enough parents call and are angry and berate staff that FCPS has decided there is no good reason to put Staff through that. Just look at the outraged posts that are posted here, now translate those into telephone calls where the language escalates and Teachers/Committee members are called names and because parents simply cannot understand how their child's obvious brilliance has been missed by the school.

I think it’s really a pretty good idea. Having a week to calm down really works. The parents are much calmer after time to reflect - it’s really a win win.

You really don’t need the packet to work on the appeal. When you get it eventually, you can polish the appeal, but to get started on the appeal, you really don’t need it.

You should have done a ferpa request. I threatened one and got the packet the same day.

Those with kids with very high test scores do need the packet to do the appeal so we can counter whatever the school didn’t see.

Why would you want to do that. Parents like you are the reason they try to avoid the rest of us.

because federal law says that parents have a right to see any part of a child's academic record. FCPS could just follow the law and release packets when they have them

Parents like this one need spring break to calm down. Imagine if a parent fights for getting the packet what can this parent do if their child is rejected?

You threatened whom? The principal or AART? And you are proud of this? Wow!

“A week to calm down”? We are talking about adults. It seems that FCPS finds themselves yet again in artificial need to play a role of an only adult in the room. How about demanding mutual respect? I don’t know the current protocol, but FCPS should have straightforward repercussions for any parent mistreating FCPS personnel. Likewise, attempts to implement infantile practices such as “calming down period for the general FCPC parent population” should be grounds for employment termination. Fair enough?

You say that, but many parents will be exactly the opposite of respectful and professional in this matter.
