Level IV--when do decisions come out?

This mom is concerned about her child being bored in 2nd grade, don’t tell her he will be fine if he doesn’t get in AAP.

I bet her kid still enjoys going to school, saying that they are “bored” in math and language arts…that’s more parents talking and kid repeating it. Kid would say it’s just easy and that he gets everything right or he knew it already. Not “I was bored”. And saying kid will be fine is not hurtful. You must be very sensitive if that bothers you.

AARTs know by now. Notices will be sent shortly.

According to this document, March 28-29 notices will be sent to local schools and parents. Don’t they notify schools/ AART and parents at the same time via email from AAP central committee, just like they did for pool email they sent in December?
Are you sure AART are notified before? Do you know when parents will be notified?

AARTs at some schools have been known to leak the information before the letters go out---that's how I infer they get the information first.

AARTs had a one day heads up on pool notifications per one I spoke to in December.

Does it come from the school or the county?

Me too actually, generally I don’t worry too much about anything, but the wait for these results are creating weird feeling. 142 cogat, 139 NNAT, but his class focus levels are very low. Fingers crossed.

If these scores are genuine and not prepped, you have nothing to worry about. You know when kid is naturally smart, if you can see it, teacher can too

It also depends on what race the child is. If AA and Hispanic then definitely IN with these scores.
No matter what the scores, there is some politics at play. I really hope the committee does the selection based on merit.

It would be really nice if they can give the responses Wednesday so the school will send home the packet Thursday in case I need to appeal. The aart at our school won’t send home the copy of the packet until after decisions are out.

Honest question for anyone with the inside information (I am aware of many speculations, I am curious whether anyone has some true info): why do central committees delay sending decisions to parents? They have created their own deadlines with two different dates in two different documents (one being March 28-29, and the second April 4-5). They are unapologetic about deadlines that parents have to follow, why are they not returning the favor?

Yes looks like AARTs are notified on March 28, which is today. Parents will be notified this Friday or Monday April 4. They want to avoid parents asking questions so they will let us know before spring break when schools and FCPS office is closed.

What questions? Also, who would we go to if we have questions anyway?

They want to avoid the freak outs from the parents of kids not accepted. They call asking why why why? And they are mad. Give them a week, they calm down.
