Curious is they will put anyone on a waitlist. Last year several girls dropped out after they made UA teams |
|
Last year they had waitlists and girls do come off the lists.
Girls also get injured and end up not going. |
Last year girls were notified if they were in the waitlist at the same time girls were offered spots. It’s doubtful they’d go back to their original tryout list. I know of a girl in another region who was added before the tournament because she switched clubs and her new coach was an AS coach. Not sure if she was an addition or filled a spot of someone who dropped out. |
| Curious if there were any committed 23s at the tryouts? |
| Yes. |
Only 6 2023s came to the tryout, so all probably will receive offers. |
You mean only 6 Capital Blue ‘23s? Or 6 total? Or 6 Committed 2023s? |
Heard it was 6 field players total for the 2023s. |
Yikes. Sounds like once again AS will be unable to field a DC 11th grade team. |
| complete money grab. politics 100%. |
They must have anticipated the low turnout based on a lack of registrations for the 2023s and made the decision prior to the actual tryout to create a combined DC/MD/VA team. No committed player at these age groups should be playing on these AS and UA teams. These teams should be made up of uncommitted players only at this age group. No college coaches want to watch other commits. There should be events specific to those who have committed. |
Some of the girls who are committed that tried out said that their colleges are requiring them to participate in several showcases over the summer |
There are several committed showcases and a much better opportunity for their future coaches to see them play with/against their committed peers. |
| Yes. Most D1 committed girls have 1 or 2 showcase tournaments in late July/early Aug with their future teammates after the club season. Playing AS in late July is not the best option for them. |
| Anyone know who made the 2024 Team? |
