If I live in Chevy Chase can my DD still try out for DC/VA? Or do we go to MD? How many do you think will try out per position this year and what will the competition be like?

Yes. DC generally means DC Metro.

You can tryout for any region you like, but can only tryout for one region, unlike UA where you can tryout for any and all...

Don't you just love seeing kids from MD/VA on the Midwest or Upstate NY teams? Or a kid from Denver on the Baltimore team?

I think AS is trying to do the right thing with the regions since you can only try out once, but there's nothing stopping anyone from trying out for whichever region they like. Although I won't put too much into AS doing the right thing based on how much they charge lol. Just waiting for UA to follow suit.

Those are only allowed if they are playing on a mid-atlantic club as an out-of-town player. (eg Levy's daughter for Heros)

Not for Under Armour. I've seen plenty of local girls play for random regions. Levy's daughter plays for M&D, not Hero's.

Their website says:

IF YOU LIVE IN A STATE THAT IS NOT REPRESENTED BY THE REGIONS LISTED BELOW,

PLEASE CHOOSE THE REGION THAT IS GEOGRAPHICALLY CLOSEST TO WHERE YOU LIVE.

ATHLETES CAN TRYOUT IN ONE REGION ONLY.

+1. You see it more often with kids that would not/did not make it in their own region. SJC had a player on UNY team last year and Bullis had a girl on the Midwest team the year before.

Website says one thing, actions say another.

So is this “play for any region” apply to UA or AS? If I live in VA, can I then try out for…let’s say…Texas?

Definitely for UA. I'm not sure for certain what would happen if you tried out for a random region with AS. For what it's worth, we live in Moco, daughter plays in Baltimore and AS director said she could try out for DC/VA or MD...

The MD teams are stronger so you’ll see MD players who worry they won’t make the MD teams come to DC so they can make a team. Also, there were girls who tried out for more than one region of AS last year. Maybe since regional clubs manage the tryouts there was no cross checking but the intent is there.

Wow. Seems like no need to try out out for AS Dc/VA team if you’re not from MD! They should check parent’s license for addresses at sign in! What’s the point in having regions???
