UA put a stop to this last as well. You can only try out in one location, for one team.
No more not-making the Baltimore team and burning rubber down 95 to try out for the DC team.

I'd be so annoyed as a DC player, and parent!

Some players from other places try to make hotbed teams as a flex, when in reality it's only the club coach who gets you on the team.

Back to DC and Baltimore having tryouts different days. UA/CSE isn’t dumb. They’ll get to double dip on tryout registrations.

There will always been some issues here. For instance, can a girl who lives in Bethesda and plays for Pride try out for DC/VA team?

Bigger issue is girls flying to Texas or Tennessee to tryout.

For UA, you can tryout for any region you want, and multiple regions. For AS, you are supposed to tryout for the region you're in/closest too. Doubt they are checking too closely.

This is found in the FAQs on the UA Lax site:

CAN I TRYOUT IN MULTIPLE REGIONS OR A DIFFERENT REGION FROM WHERE I LIVE?
Yes, but if you are selected you will represent the region you tried out for first. You must pay for each region/tryout.

DC/VA usually means DC Metro and most MoCo girls end up on these teams.

There is likely a huge political fight underway at the highschool level with the low-end clubs like YJMA, YJS, and even Pride at this point (sadly), fighting to get coaching spots. The only clubs that should really get coaching spots are Capital and maybe VA Metro - for high school. The 8th grade spot should go to Stars or Pride as those are best 2 clubs by far for ‘26.

That would actually be a decent way to do it — best team for age.

I believe tryouts are the 13th.

VA Metro coach is the one that ruined UA DC team for the past several years

True. I forgot about that.

I guess My question is as a parent, we really need these type of teams to get recruited, or are they really money grabs

Plenty of kids get recruited and play in college that never made one of these teams. It's a good resume builder, but not the be all end all. AS seems like a huge money grab while UA does not since you only have to pay the tryout fee, but many feel UA is super political (although plenty think AS is as well...).
