I think she coached something for it. Can she carry over that success? |
She couldn’t handle it at NCS or Next Level. Is terribly disorganized and has poor follow through. She is nice. Coaching seems mediocre but hard to tell with all the chaos. |

Shelby Mercer is excellent. Played at Maryland. Capital Coach.
Sarah Aschenbach is excellent. Played at W&Al. Stars coach. |
Who coached the 2023 team? Is there a roster posted for this team? |
It was combined with Maryland. Most committed girls opted out. I think they ended up filling it out with 2023’s from other regions as there wasn’t enough between DC/VA/MD. Most top 23s did Philly committed games last week and/or UA this week. |
| DC/VA 2025s went undefeated in pool play and won their quarterfinal - headed to semifinals this morning. |

Not sure about the makeup of this years 2023 team. Historically the DC-VA team has struggled to get all of the top talent to even tryout for these types of events, so the makeup of the teams align more closely with the club running the local tryout.
A question, why has the VA-DC immediate recruiting classes the past two years (2023s last year and 2024s this year) performed so poorly. Is it because they can’t get all the best players to tryout? These teams have been overwhelmingly comprised of Capital players. As the PP mentioned the 2025s, who have not been in the CLC program for long and were developed under other clubs are doing well. The 2026s seem to be performing well also, but are not part of CLC. There is no doubt CLC knows how to get kids recruited and will continue to do so. They know how to work the system. But a fair question, is the club really developing players once they get them from other clubs and putting the best players on the field? Are the better players on CLC opting for the UA event over AS? |
| DC tryouts for AS and UA are notoriously biased, especially at upper levels. We in Baltimore laugh at them and the teams they field. Baltimore teams sparked the DC teams in both groups at UA this weekend. I think we are still scoring in those games. DC has longed picked favorites and not the best options. We hear the talent evaluators are either biased or just suck. Keep doing it DC as you make our lives easier! |
| Agree with PP. A lot of players who have since committed to top D1 programs never bothered to tryout. Heard the same stories about it being political. It’s too bad because VA-DC could field strong teams if these events can get the best players to attend tryouts. Instead it seems like the teams default to those overseeing the tryouts, which clearly has not worked well in the past and again this year. |
Looks like they won it. Congrats to the 25’s. |
| The UA tryout for 25 and 26s was a sham. Just scrimmages. Many 26s picked for the combined team. One of the "judges" was coaching his club team players during the tryout. |
| His “club” team (DC UA Command) got smacked down 17-2 today. UA longtimers said one of the worst defeats for any team at UA ever. Asked what the hell was going on with DC teams. Sad. |
| The problem with the DC UA teams is the influence of the Yellow Jacket South players and coaches. The players play hero ball and the coaches keep their players in the game. |
Maybe next year the Md 25s can make the AS final. |

Wow 17-2, were these other teams so much better or DC command girls that much worse. UA is so watered down now and political. Parents and players think they need this to be recruited. News flash- NOT
