Watch the interview.. really upsetting.

It's tragic but I'm pretty sure this is not the kind of thing the board of education handles. It seems like you just want to use this family's tragedy for your own political agenda.

You are either wrong or intentionally lying. The Board of Education takes up student transfers and placements at every meeting. They do it in closed session so no one can watch them continually deny parent requests. Parents are never allowed to speak or attend these hearings. It's all done behind closed doors to keep parents and the public in the dark.

This parent may have a legitimate concern about their child's placement, but linking it to the child being murdered outside of school feels like a bridge too far. If I disagreed with my child's placement and my child was later killed in a car crash, that would also not be the BOE's fault.

I have sympathy for a grieving mother here, and wish her the best in this tragic circumstance. If you aren't this grieving parent, maybe take a step back and recognize that these two events don't seem to be related.

What an idiot. You didn't watch the news coverage. You didn't listen to what the mother said. You didn't pay any attention but think you can sit on an anonymous board and equate the murder of a child who was being bullied to a car crash? Your covid is a car crash analogy fails you again.

I was wondering this also...the police are still conducting an investigation. We don't have enough information yet.

+1. It's too early either to say the bullying and the murder are related or unrelated. It's plausible that they are, but it's far from certain.

He could have been murdered by the people bullying him at school. But even if that did not happen, vulnerable people that are mistreated and abused frequently end up at the margins of society, in high risk situations that can easily lead to getting killed.

If not the direct cause, the idea that it can be ruled out as even a contributing factor is ridiculous.

Where is the proof that anyone was bullied? The only place I’ve seen mention of that is on this forum and that’s hardly reliable.

Why are kids bringing guns to school?

Because we are awash in guns as a society. But that has nothing to do with this discussion, in which an unfortunate child was murdered outside of school hours. We don't even know that a gun was involved in this case.

It's terrible what happened to the poor kid. But here's my question: if your son is so severely and intolerably bullied, why do you keep sending him to that school? You don't even have to be there past 16 years of age. And you can always get a GED, and you can always graduate from an online program, not even affiliated with MCPS.

The "news coverage" is an interview with a distraught mother. She blames the BOE, because grieving people will lash out, maybe sometimes irrationally. But there's zero evidence that his placement --> his murder, and folks on this thread don't have the excuse of being a grieving parent.

I'm not blaming her, but I'm disappointed with folks on this thread who are jumping on a child's murder to beat their own drums about SROs or private school placements.

Because you have a right to an education.

That's like saying, if somebody sexually harasses you why not get another job.

His mom. It’s on camera. Is that enough proof for you?

It’s such a horrendous attitude and reeks of victim blaming.

You are clearly here to defend the BOE at all costs.

Speaking of evidence, you have no evidence yourself for your refusal to credit or believe the testimony of the mother. None. However you will anonymously attack her credibility anyway. What kind of person does that about the mother of a murdered son?

There is a time and place for your BS statement, but now is not the time. I'll never understand insensitive a**holes like you. This poor child is dead. How is your comment helpful to this mother or child and the situation?
