Keeping students safe should be their ultimate responsibility. MCPS failed this child. To not re-examine the record will mean it will happen again to another child.

Yep.

You may as well blame them for traffic accidents on the beltway...

Watch the interview.. really upsetting.

umm I think this is tragic but don't see how this is an issue for the board of education

umm I think you need to watch the Twitter feed at the beginning of the post? There seemed to be three points the BoE didn't act upon?

1. Put an end to the bullying
2. Change program curriculums
3. Not be sent back into the Public School where he was being bullied

The bullying motive is b.s. on the day he was murdered he went to meet the bullies. Why do you go to a secluded place to meet people who are bullying you? For those who are moaning about violence in MCPS why don’t you come out and say it? It comes from the black community and an accepted part of their culture. Ask any teacher about where their biggest problems come from? Privately they will tell you but no administrator or public official will admit it.

Did you know the victim? Do you know if he had any developmental or intellectual disabilities? I can think of alot of reasons why a child might go to meet a bully in the woods. An autistic child would do so because they do not have the same grasp of what other people are planning that would seem obvious to non autistic people. A child with an intellectual disability might go because they too didn't know what the other person's motives are. An average teenage boy might go because if he didn't, he would be bullied even harder for being a chicken.

You're a disgusting racist, by the way, if that much wasn't already clear to you.

+1 Well said.

Violence is up in MCPS schools. Bullying is the underlying reason for the violence. What is MCPS doing to address the problem? What are the statistics on the number of bullying complaints that are dismissed?

I know some people were hyping a lot of incidents earlier this year as part of their campaign to bring back SROs but the consensus was that it was just another year. Do you have some other evidence to support your claim?

?? What consensus? Violence is up significantly. And those data don't reflect Jai'lyn's murder or the Magruder shooting.

My son has been physically attacked twice at a very UMC, highly tauted middle. Never had any issues with bullying or behavior before hand.

It's so sad that this happens every year.

Ya there was a campaign by some astroturfer to bring back the SROs so they were hyping these incidents, but by all accounts it's just a regular year.

Nope. Not every year. This is post pandemic problems that MCPS failed to address.
