| My DH is antivax and I know this would be a huge problem if we had kids. He also thinks a civil war is coming, thinks Jan 6 was overblown, and believes Trump will win again in 24. He has turned into a total right wing conspiracy theorist the past five years. Divorce is on the horizon because I just can’t. |
divorce him ASAP. He is miserable and will try to bring you down with him. Smart of you to not have kids--cuz you'd be stuck! |
How can Trump win again if he never lost? |
You're insane. Deaths in war are less tragic than civilian deaths. We chose to go to a far off land for trivial reasons, blow up their stuff and kill their people. Not really a surprise when one of our guys gets killed under those circumstances. Meanwhile, a 40 year old woman just minding her business gets polluted by an antivaxxer and dies. That's obviously terrible. But you choose to live in your upside down world where the former is more of a problem than the latter? Deranged. |
Right, all the people who died in Vietnam were 75 years old in nursing homes |
At least many of his flunkies are finally starting to talk about 2024 and stop insisting he'll be "reinstated." 🙄 Sorry you're dealing with that, PP, and glad you're getting out. |
Vaccinated people are spreading the disease in case you haven’t noticed. Vaccination doesn’t prevent getting Covid or transmitting it. For the moment (until the virus mutates around it) it seems to deliver better hospitalization / death outcomes for the vaccinated, but they still get it and transmit it. If vaccinations clearly worked people wouldn’t have to resort to hurling anonymous insults on the internet to try to sell it, it would sell itself |
It's math and it is reality, dumbass. |
Most soldiers who went to Vietnam came home alive -- except for the ones who didn't. It's not about the guvmint or Big Pharmacy or the media, you imbecile. |
My two friends who died in their 30s and 40s respectively were neither 75 nor in a nursing home (nor fat, before you bother with that predictable idiotic clapback). |
40 year olds getting polluted by antivaxxers and dying. That did not happen. This is not how respiratory illness, or life, works. Especially not with a vaccine that “confers protection” to its recipients. What an absurd understanding of the world you have. Doctors should start slapping people out of their hysteria again. |

Take your kids to get vaxxed. No question
And take extra life insurance out in your DH now, before rates go up significantly for the unvaxxed (like for smokers) |
And if you may get divorced anyway, get the kids vaxxed first. Let that be the reason he files. His conspiracy theories will work in your favor in custody and divorce settlements |
| DH and I do share core values but are very different politically/ideologically (we like having interesting discussions - life would be very boring otherwise). But he doesn't research anything related to the pandemic, gets news from conservative sources, has conservative-leaning friends, and he does not trust the mainstream media (I don't disagree that they are seriously biased). So it took a lot of presenting information and agreeing with him on middle-of-road/moderate perspectives (like natural immunity is protective although for how long it is not known, that cloth face masks are not very effective, that a large proportion of children do not have severe illness) on my part to convince him to wear a higher-quality mask, get vaccinated, and that our young kids should get vaccinated when vaccines are available to them. He got vaccinated to appease my request that he not bring Covid home to his family. But the argument that one should do it to reduce overall transmission is lost on him - he still believes strongly that anyone but the elderly and immunocompromised need to be vaccinated. |
While vaccinated people can become infected, they become infected at much lower rates and when infected appear to be less efficient spreaders of COVID-19 From the CDC https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/variants/delta-variant.html?s_cid=11503:which%20vaccine%20is%20better%20for%20delta%20variant:sem.ga:p:RG:GM:gen TN:FY21 "Fully vaccinated people with Delta variant breakthrough infections can spread the virus to others. However, vaccinated people appear to spread the virus for a shorter time"
https://www.cnbc.com/2021/10/04/pfizer-covid-vaccine-protection-against-infection-tumbles-to-47percent-study-confirms.html This is important to remember, the vaccine not only protects the vaccinated, but by reducing the likelihood of infection and reducing the likelihood of a breakthrough case infection others, help slow the spread of COVID-19. |
