Anyone else not care that much about cheating?

What got me was the lying and uncertainty and the time spent with some ho that should have been invested in our relationship and spending gotdayum money doing that s***. That's why I divorced.

For all the talk about the harm to children and so on, I wonder how children in other countries were extramarital affairs aren't so moralized deal with it? Are they broken and cynical and distraught and unable to make connections and have meaningful relationships as people here say will happen to children?

My friends in Europe all spent much of their youth away at boarding school, fwiw. And 3 of them are pretty messed up and don’t have a good relationship with either parent.

My best friend in Germany and her 3 brothers were devastated when dad wanted off with another woman. She was 20 at the time. Her mother was incredibly distraught. I lived with them for some time right after this. The kids did not have a relationship with him for some time.

People have this seeking generalization about “Europe”. Europe is so many different countries, culture and religions. I haven’t found cheating in marriage so acceptable in Ireland or Spain or Italy.

Yeah this generalization of “europe” being so much more enlightened about sexual mores is a little obnoxious. First of all because Europe is a big place with many different cultures, and also because just because something is European doesn’t make it better. Take, for instance, the Dutch and their common attitude toward race. No thank you.
