I mean, what were these horrible people thinking while they ran a boy down and killed him?!! Did they think at all?

They didn't think they were going to kill him. They thought they were detaining a theif.

But they killed him…so you know.

He's just a dumb schlub who was changing a lightbulb or whatever, sees his neighbors go tearing down the road, has no idea what's happening, and joined the chase. I bet he wishes he'd stayed home now! But then if he did, the other guys might have gotten off.

So in terms of the civil case--I don't know Roddie's marital status, but can the wives lose their homes, savings etc over this? I have no idea how this works.

And what's the federal trial about?

+1 I think Roddie was the one who released the video, perversely thinking that it exonerated them. Dumb schlub indeed and my god, the privilege. But I believe the judge that he actually showed remorse.

RE the federal case - the family rejected a plea and it’s going to trial in a month. https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/ahmaud-arbery-killing-federal-hate-crime-charges-plea-deal-rejected/
Here’s the indictment: https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/three-georgia-men-charged-federal-hate-crimes-and-attempted-kidnapping-connection-death

I think someone in law enforcement that didn't like the cover up, released/leaked the video.

Its on record that the LEOs had the video for three months and sat on it. The LAWYER of the defendants released the video to a local station under the mistaken impression it would clear their name. It in fact forced an arrest for murder.

Is this true? It had been reported many times that Roddie released it. That lawyer should be disbarred.

The lawyer never represented them. I’m honestly not sure the lawyer thought it would clear them.

I agree. I know that video evidence has been so important in bringing perpetrators of hate crimes to justice, but I can’t imagine how horrendous it is for these families to have their loved ones last moments out there in the world like that. To be than man’s mother—unbearable.

+1 And he was still alive when the beat cops showed up and were more concerned about the perps getting blood on them than rendering aid to the dying man in the street.

THIS THIS! Everyone treated him as subhuman. You can hear him gasping for breath. Even if you aren’t an EMT - a normal person would go and try to put pressure on the wounds or at the least try to hold his hand and reassure and comfort him. Just speaks to the depravity of everyone down there. As a mother to have your child is bad enough but to know that the police left him there alone in the street dying would tear at my soul. Where is the humanity?

Agreed, horrifying across the board. So relieved justice is being served. With the federal charges too, unlikely the third guy will ever get out either. Dumb racist hicks.

Whether the lawyer breached attorney client privilege depends on whether others saw the video and who consulted with the attorney. We don’t have enough information to know if the lawyer violated the rules of professional conflict.

Federal hate crime trial is underway. One of the jurors asked for if there were funds for counseling after he/she was exposed to the litany of racial slurs in the McMichael and Bryan communications.

They are such trash humans and I can't believe the mental gymnastics people use to defend them.
