I feel a little bad for the Roddie guy. He's just a dumb schlub who was changing a lightbulb or whatever, sees his neighbors go tearing down the road, has no idea what's happening, and joined the chase. I bet he wishes he'd stayed home now! But then if he did, the other guys might have gotten off. So in terms of the civil case--I don't know Roddie's marital status, but can the wives lose their homes, savings etc over this? I have no idea how this works. And what's the federal trial about?
+1 I think Roddie was the one who released the video, perversely thinking that it exonerated them. Dumb schlub indeed and my god, the privilege. But I believe the judge that he actually showed remorse. RE the federal case - the family rejected a plea and it’s going to trial in a month. https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/ahmaud-arbery-killing-federal-hate-crime-charges-plea-deal-rejected/ Here’s the indictment: https://www.justice.gov/opa/pr/three-georgia-men-charged-federal-hate-crimes-and-attempted-kidnapping-connection-death
I think someone in law enforcement that didn't like the cover up, released/leaked the video.
Its on record that the LEOs had the video for three months and sat on it. The LAWYER of the defendants released the video to a local station under the mistaken impression it would clear their name. It in fact forced an arrest for murder.
Is this true? It had been reported many times that Roddie released it. That lawyer should be disbarred.
Whether the lawyer breached attorney client privilege depends on whether others saw the video and who consulted with the attorney. We don’t have enough information to know if the lawyer violated the rules of professional conflict.
