Not the pp but really? It does not really take more than a few minutes observing Arlington players to know they are not a skilled based team. There are like three field players who are okay. Two have size and athleticism but still need to develop foot skills. The third has some pretty good skills but gets lost in Arlington’s style of play. The rest you can have. Did Arlington just lose to Stoddert? Loudoun beat them what 5-1? You best hope you do not get put in to a top flight at a big tournament. Those teams have moved way beyond Arlington.

Look the team was a good u11 team but things have changed. I would worry if your kid is not in the top three. Arlington will make changes. I bet the TD is already evaluating everyone(coach and all the players) on that team.

Word is that Arlington has been bringing in TD and other coaches to try and turn things around because current coach is clueless. Talk about a team in crisis - can't win more than a game at a tournament, loses to Stoddert, and coach now has to be coached. Meanwhile next week, they are set up to be beaten by Loudoun and probably a Pitt team that isn't in the top 1000 in the country... Don't be surprised if everyone from the team - players and coach is gone next year. Best will leave for a functioning program, and the others will be demoted as Arlington tries a hard reset after a disastrous season.

At least a couple of their players have contacted - and even practiced with - other pre DA/ECNL clubs and we aren’t even out of October.

Next year they will be a DA team so will have a new coach. And I bet 75% of the team is the same and moves up to DA. There will probably be 5-6 new kids who will wander over to take the remaining spots. Once they start to get DA training they will be fine.

F@ck. Ha. You are new at this. You seriously think a coach at Arlington da is going to transform the talent pool that other Arlington coaches could not? They have never ever been known as talent developers, just recruiters. Get your kid trained elsewhere in the early years instead of beating your chest about unimportant u9/10/11 wins. This is what happens when you can’t see the forest for the trees.

We all know that no club develops. If the club is successful they must have recruited superstars trained at other clubs or they play bad soccer.

This is not true. Someone wants to switch their DD to Arlington 2008 DA next year and so they are trying to get current players to leave. Current parents and players are happy.

Ok if no club develops than where do girls get developed? Someone is developing players.

If I have to summarize this entire thread:

1) All DMV teams suck
2) None of the DMV clubs develop their players
3) Any team that wins now will start losing come U13 or after
4) All parents think their team and/or club is the best
5) All parents think that their DD is the next Mia Hamm

Did I miss anything?

Look out for FPYC 08G that could be the next big thing among the second class teams.

No. I'd rather Arlington players stay where they are, but they keep popping up at other team's practices.

This is someone who is either not on the team or is naive. My DD plays for the Blue team, but has a number of friends on the Red team, and we are friends with a number of the parents. The 08 Red girls are very unhappy, and while there are a few parents who are not unhappy, the vast majority can't stand the coach. It shouldn't be a great surprise to anyone. The team went from winning tournaments to not winning a single game in a lower bracket...

The losing started under Alexis...spring u11 season was a disaster - Arlington Tournament , Jeff Cup and that last tournament. I know that the red parents think Alexis is going to come in and save the day but that’s not going to happen. If he takes over the team its just going to be the same team doing the same old things. He picked this team and coached it as recently as this summer in that waste of time super y.

The players just did not develop(under him) while other clubs have caught up on size and speed. He had them for over three years. Speed of play drills are great if the players have proficient technical skills. If the players have not developed sufficient technical skill, you are wasting your time. New coach, old coach...it’s about the players’ soccer IQ, technical skill and commitment to getting better...at DA/ECNL everyone is fast and athletic enough.

It is interesting and eye opening watching the red/white practices.

Where are all of these Arlington Red girls going to go next year? Give up playing on a DA team close to home to play for another mediocre team further away? McLean lost girls from their green team to Arlington last year so it doesn't appear that will be a better option. That team isn't winning against quality competition either. BRYC is losing even more than Arlington. Metro probably won't even have a DA team at U13. Currently the best 2008 team in NOVA is Loudoun but that would be quite a haul from Arlington. And will they be able to keep their players or will they lose them to FCV next year and end up being mediocre too. There just aren't any really great 2008 teams out there. I've got a 2008 and unless some of these teams drop out of ECNL/DA and those top players change teams the talent is just too diluted.
